How do you guys like the M6?
Like I posted in another thread, I am just about to pull the trigger on a 2015 M6GC. I wanted to know how you guys like the car. I have never driven one since the dealership didn't have one in stock to test drive. Also, is the car loud? Ive watched a few videos on youtube and you can hear some roar, but I was wondering if it is loud when you open it up. Thanks any feedback is greatly appreciated.

I just came out of a CLS550 (2013), too.
I have owned a lot of Benzes and a lot of BMW's. For some reason, I've just always been more enamored with BMW. I simply like them better....they are more of a young guy's car. I think the S class is hands down the best large sedan...but I would take BMW competitors over the CLS, E, and C. I wish the M6 were AWD, won't lie. The CLS seemed very fast for that reason (was 4Matic). I had the prior generation M6, too, and it had a hard time putting all that HP down....and the current M6 has 70 more HP and more torque. However, the M6 is a rare car and borderline super car. I live in the Chicago area and honestly have only seen 2-3 6GC's and none were M6's. I like the exclusivity, especially if you are going to pay the amount the M6 is. Sound-wise, it's a beast on cold start, very loud and lots of bass. Honestly, I haven't pushed it yet (only had it 2 weeks) to know what it's like under tunnels, etc. I know my prior M6 sounded awesome (Ferrari like through tunnels)....but that was also a V10 (plus it was a cabrio so I could hear the sound better). I've read the V10's sounded better than anything.

We absolutely love the car. Noisewise, it is close to, but somewhat louder than, our previously-owned '06 CLS55. It is definitely quieter than our previously-owned '06 Z06 Corvette. I guess it depends on whether you like your cars louder or quieter. The quality of the road seems to have more to do with the noise level that the engine/exhaust. You'll definitely hear lots of road noise when driving over a rough-asphalt road intended for winter driving. I don't know how it compares to the CLS63, but sound level data may be compared using this article.
As I posted in another thread, compared to the CLS55, the M6GC handles like it is riding on rails, and that's even without the competition package. After two AMG cars ('00 E55 and '06 CLS55), my wife and I are definitely BMW converts. Good luck! |

I picked up my '15 M6GC w/comp pack 3 months ago and even though it isn't a daily driver (live just outside of Chicago) I can honestly say that I won't look back. I've had an '04 E55 and just traded my '06CLS 55 for my new ride. I did test drive the new E63 & CLS63 before I bought my M6GC. I'll admit, I do like the awd on the new AMGs and the stock exhaust note but aside from that, I prefer the handling characteristics, responsiveness and look/feel of the M6GC. With the exception of the new S class, the interiors of the E & CLS seem so dated when comparing them to the M6GC. They're also quite rare, at least from my point of view, to see one on the streets. I've only seen one M6GC and like 3-4 M6 coupes during the last few months. I personally think you'll truly enjoy the M6GC.

I'm still new to M6 ownership, but so far I love it! Amazing car in every respect, and as mentioned above - super super rare.

, especially the tiny display screen in the E class. And the screen in the new CLS looks like it was hastily tacked onto the top of the dash as an afterthought.

I really like the all aspects and the exclusivity of the m6 GC I highly recommend a trip to your local Dinan dealer. The tune and suspension upgrades take an already awesome car to another level!

I am currently getting rid of a 2014 CLS550 for the M6GC. I agree I don't like the huge screen that looks like its screwed into the dash but it is better than the small screen that is currently in my '14.

I love the MG Gran Coupe. I have the 2015 with MT and Comp package. Definitely the best car I have driven. The stock exhaust isn't loud though but it can bark when you kick it.

In the last 3 years, I've owned a 535xi, 650 Convertible, M6 convertible and now, the M6GC. Of all iterations of the Fxx model line, the GC (F06) is the best! I've owned the M6 GC for the last year and a half and I'm still very happy with it. Handles better than the convertible and a lot roomier. Is it noisy? Inside, you hear some noise but that roar you're talking about is more noticeable when you're outside the car. You got to love the roar though. That's what makes it an M.

The exhaust note is dependent upon what drive settings you have. Mine is my daily driver to include the winter (with winter tire pkg). With the nanny tech off, it is impressive but not vette, mustang, ferrari etc, level. Default setting is tame. I drive it in between with commensurate noise level. The bark or "barrappa" as Satch Carlson put it occurs between shifts 1-2 and 2-3 and is inconsistent and occurs in any setting. Nevertheless, my girlfriend says she can hear the rumble from the other side of our valley (about an 1/8 of a mile away). In full out mode (nanny tech off or sport plus all out and DSC off) you get exhaust note, turbo and rear differential whine which I find incredibly satisfying. But it is no Akrapovic. Hope that helps re sound.

Other than the jealousy and envy from dirty scumbags I am loving this car. Have had to deal with more vandalism than ever before though and I've had the car two months.

Love the M6 Vert but love the M3 better
We have the F12 SO M6 convertible and really love the car. My wife drives the Mercedes but since we purchased the new M3 (F80) we both seems to want to drive the M3. If I were to buy another convertible to replace the M6 vert, it would be the M4 convertible. Just my opinion.

+1 except no intentional vandalism. One rear ending from someone gawking at the car's impressive rearend and at my custom license plate while trying to text it to a friend. Another parking lot hit that took out the front left of the car. Fender shattered because it is made of lightweight hardened plastic (CFRP maybe?) instead of sheet metal. That was over $6500. The car was even parked in a secure manner. More positive then negatives though. I try not to speed to much in population. That seems to really cause road rage in the haters. Very sorry to hear about the vandalism.

Got my car just before Thanksgiving. On Christmas Eve, I was shopping for gifts at The Grove Mall and came back to see my rear German Zoll ED plate was stolen. Then while shopping at Bed Bath and Beyond around new years, I came back to see someone had hit my front driver side bumper with a shopping cart and scuffed it. I then took the car in to Beverly Hills BMW where I purchased my car for some service and when I got the car back there was a huge tire scuff mark on my front passenger bumper. Most of that came off with compound, but a few deep scratches took out some paint. Beverly Hills BMW will be taking care of that one. I then found a gash on my rear driver side bumper a few days ago which I think happened inside my apartment's garage. Couldn't find the scumbag who did it. The last one just came two days ago at a valet where they scratched the bottom of the rear passenger side bumper. Every single corner of my car has been hurt within two months of owning it. I try not to fret too much about it, but if I catch the next scumbag in the act, it will be ugly.

I'm afraid of stuff like this when I get the M6. My GT has even suffered a bit, someone keyed the rim once (had to be refinished), then there is a very light keying on the hood, and one time some hippie with a Honda Fit had a minor fender-bender when the GT was parked, but the bumper was fixed, luckily no paint scratched. The car is parked in a safe neighborhood, but I'm afraid of when driving the car to slightly more shady areas, I might be the target of vandalism. The M6 should come with a 1-yr bodyguard included
