FIRST POST!! Introduction and Metallic tint / film question
So I'm happy to announce that after months of searching I've found the 6 series for me; a CPO 2014 640i xDrive Gran Coupe. Deep Sea Blue with cinnamon brown interior; a real "boss car" as my cousins and I sometimes refer to them. Pics from picking it up at the dealer are below.
Since having the car for a few weeks I've decided to follow a black and blue theme to go with that deep blue on the car. I've replaced the grills for an aftermarket black double rib grill (like the one on the m6, but without the badge of course). Next will be tints followed by powder coating the stock wheels (or getting a good deal on M5 wheels and powder coating those). But the main question for this post is to ask if anyone has had any experience with metallic film affecting reception on things such as phone, radio, BT, TPMS, and keyless entry. For those asking why would you ever use metallic, here's a quick background; there's a former cop in my town who does tints (ironic I know), and I've heard nothing but great things about the quality of the work, film, and pricing. After doing some research I was able to find out that he uses Johnson Marathon Film, which is a metallic, dye hybrid (no shine, but still has heat blocking properties). Since it is a hybrid I'm hoping the reception issues won't be too bad, that is if it hasn't already been addressed. Anyone have any experience with this Marathon film? or metallic film in general? Thanks in advance for your help guys! Really looking forward to being a part of this! |

I don't have experience w metallic films bc it's kinda rare to even see installers using them nowadays. You're in NJ, surely there are many installers who can provide the result you're looking for at a good cost using a non-metallic or ceramic film. I personally wouldn't risk it w a metallic film.
