Cracking gearshift plastic

Has anyone else had issues with the clear bit of plastic that covers the prnd indicator on the gear lever? Mine is cracking, I think, from the heat partially caused by the ceramic trim heating up. My car is in the shop now for a diff (more on that later) and asked them to look into it.

That's unpleasant

. Mine never cracked, though it feels a bit loose.

I asked my SA to replace it. I assumed it would covered by warranty, but he made sure to tell me they were doing because my car has been there for so long. (Since July 10th for a bad diff & stripped driveshaft)
