Replacement battery cost and options?
Hi guys. Needed to get a battery for the car and it was quoted at $776 msrp and $660 dealer cost. Are there aftermarket options for this? If so, what are the costs?

Did a quick search and found at auto zone for $180ish. Is there any reason to not use the factory one? I was told it was coded to the car. Is that b/a or a half truth?

I don't think the battery is coded to the car as such but programming/coding is needed to tell the car about the new battery, something to do with the charge controller I think.

Is your 2013 650i is still under warranty?
Was able to get a new dealer 105AH battery replaced and registered before my warranty expired.

the battery need since new has changed. it need to be a 110 qmp. i woukd get the largest gsm battery that will fit. i was having battery issues and other battery related issue until the dealer up graded the battery. my wifes 535 had a 2 yr old battery whicch was giving discharge notices until i got a large gms battery. but 425 is too much for the battery. the 535 was $350.

Has anyone ever seriously looked into whether Lithium-Ion batteries are available for these cars? I just replaced by bike battery with one. Lead Acid Weight 3.9kg. Lithium Ion 0.9kg. Not to mention safer. Better cold crank amperage and exceptionally low drain (so obvious why it suits weekend warrior/ fair weather motorbike riders). Imagine the weight improvement in a car.....
