The twi turbo eight will often burn a quart every 2-5k miles.

Thank you all, I have no idea that it burns that much. I walked over to Autozone today and got me a quart @ $8.99 + tax! I will go stock some up from Costco next week.

Keeping a stock of it is a good idea. I stay away from Sport mode and keep the RPMs reasonable once I get the low oil light. I believe the manual says you have 150 miles to top it off after the light goes. Personally, it's too painful to go a day or two without Sport mode, so I keep at least one backup all the time.

Thank you for the tip, I will start keeping a bottle in the trunk from now on. I felt like I did something bad to the car when the warning went off. Beside waxing once a month, I will also check oil level, so it can always be driven the way it was made to be (fast).

I think you'll find that you can get more than 1300 miles without getting low - my first was at 5200 then again around 7700, if memory serves. Every car is different, as are our driving styles and daily commutes. if you wouldn't mind, post back when you get to quart #2 to satisfy my curiosity Even if it is ever 1300 miles or so, i don't think anything's wrong. I average 11.5 mpg (almost exclusively city), and the service guys told me it's normal if i continue to stay off of highways and drive with a lead foot.

I was thinking about the dealer, but they are about 10 miles away and different direction than my daily commute. It will cost me roughly $8 to drive there and back, so I will stock up a little and save sometime. I gotta go look for some engine oil coupons from Costco.

Thanks, I will post my 2nd refill mileage. I've been getting 11 mpg average too but mix freeway and city. Traffic is always heavy on freeway here.

I've hit the 9.5 mpg mark a couple of times. If I do better than that, then I think I've saved a polar bear or two.

Just at the 5100 mile mark (Feb-Oct.. then storage) oil level still good. We do a fair mix of freeway and city driving. There is a qt in the trunk from the dealer, in a BMW vinyl case. Haven't used it yet. Maybe when we return at the end of this month. And yes, when I'm alone it's in Sport Mode and sounds wonderful !! My wife says I just do it to attract attention !! DUH, the car alone does that. Still no others in my area. After shopping or at the liquor store, always people hangin' around looking at it!........... then it's fun to pop the trunk with 50ft or so to go!! They always jump !! lol lol

I just order BMW engine oil case last night. 1 qt will sit in the trunk from now on.

The car is quite popular when sitting in front of the local Starbucks. For me, it attracts women and men between 45 - 65. I guess I gotta start dating older women...

For some people, that is like asking them to change their religion.

It takes time to train an entire store's staff to know your order and optimize efficiency at all times of the day

Yeah, two quarts in < 3000 miles is suspicious. I'd definitely being it up with the dealership, and if they don't do something, then I'd write to BMW NA.
