Colour Choice on M6 GC

On Friday, I placed an order for a M6 GC for delivery in late may/early june. I have a 2009 M6 convertible in carbon black with rust brown interior which we will keep for sunny summer weekends.

Since carbon black was not available for the GC, I had to find something new. I considered saphire black with platin or champagne interior, but found that it hides the nice lines of the GC too much. Sakhir orange looks great (I saw a coupe in that colour), but it is too "loud" for me as I will use the car to drive to the office. I like moonstone, but on the M6 i found it somewhat too soft, as it shows a golden glow in direct sunlight. The M5 I had for a test drive (no M6 was available) was in singapore grey: an interesting colour, it shows black, green or grey depending on the lightning conditions. However, it also hides the lines of the car like even more than black and looks somewhat "old" if dirty, e.g after a rain shower, which happens often here in Germany.

In the end, I ordered the car in frozen silver like I saw it the first time on the Geneva car show a year ago. The car in Geneva had a cohiba brown interior which I found somewhat dark. So I went for silverstone with carbon fibre trim which should match the frozen silver quite well. I will post some pics when I get the car.

I know, color choices are always subjective, but what were your thoughts when you made your decision?

I have Sakhir Orange on my coupe but I admit it is loud and I prefer loud colors on coupes and more traditional ones on four doors. I think Singapore Grey is amazing, specially after seeing Hunter's beast, which is one of the best modded M6 I've seen on these forums. For the GC I'd have to say, if I were to order one it would probably be in Brilliant White (an Individual option) with Amaro Brown or Sakhir Orange interior. I like amaro brown. I'm a fan of cigar colored leather. Silverstone would work well with Brilliant White as well if Sakhir leather is too loud for you as well.

Without a doubt I would go Singapore Grey on M6GC....Perfect color for that car...

I like sakhir orange, but my fave color is still white.
I will be wrapping my car in satin white on March 12th.
I'll post a few pics when it's done

I went Sakhir Orange.

I was worried it would be too bright, but actually I don't think it is. It's unusual, but then so is the car!

I did not want a colour from the Black/Grey/White/Silver pallet, there are so many cars like this around at the moment. Look down a queue of traffic and it's just monochromatic as far as the eye can see. White, in particular, is a colour that comes in and out of fashion, it's in at the moment, in a few years it will be out! My E39 M5 is Carbon Black, it's a nice colour but I wanted something different.

So, apart from Individual colours that just left San Marino Blue and Sakhir Orange (Havana excepted). I did consider Tanzanite Blue, but I think it's a bit dark, on a dull day (and we get plenty in the UK) it almost falls into the monochrome category.

I decided against San Marino just because I'd previously had a LeMans blue E46 and most M5's here are Monte Carlo Blue, but it was very close between the two.

I've just ordered mine in Alpine white, with Silverstone interior.
I was tempted by Singapore Grey which under certain lighting conditions looks very good, however the car I took the test drive in had Singapore Grey and it looked dirty(although the salesman just told me had just been through the valeting shop) and didn't show the shape of the car off or the carbon roof.
I played safe and picked Alpine white, which I've just had on a 640D coupe and its very good at hiding the dirt and suits the car.
I did consider citrine black, but the wife has a black 1 series and its awful to keep clean and shows every scratch.
The test car had Silverstone interior and it looked great. My current interior is black so I thought it would make a nice change.

I love San Marino Blue when I first saw it on the M6 Convertible, an after a month with my SMB M6 Gran Coupe, I think I didnt go wrong:

Whenever I go, my M6 draws everyone's attention. Many people don't know what kind of car it is, but they all tell me that the color is just sweet

How about pure metal silver for the exterior with the opal white interior ? The contrast stitching on the individual is well worth it.

Indeed! It looks amazing!!

Don't know for for the interior as I would have chosen a color that is closer to rust brown. Just really like that color for the interior.

Looks amazing. I look forward to seeing it in real. The red interior is great. I went for silverstone as it harmonizes with the carbon-fibre trim quite well.

Also a fantastic color. In the past I had an avus blue M3 Sedan (E36) which did also look great, exspecially in direct sunlight.

On the GC the frozen bronze and Havana looks outstanding!!!

It's not as loud as some other colours but really work on the GC design.

Restyleit is a Canadian car wrap company, one of the best in a world. This color choice is garbage, but restyleit did a neat job
