Slight clicking noise when turning steering wheel
Hi all,
Just today my M6 GC developed a very gentle clicking noise from the steering wheel when going more than half a turn in either direction. The noise is akin to the click when turning the iDrive controller. There's no vagueness in the steering, no vibration when driving, the steering weight changes as expected between comfort, sport etc. and the electric adjustment works okay too (though I've only tried back/forwards not up/down). I'll probably call the dealer/warranty company tomorrow but I just wondered whether anyone else has experienced or heard of similar and what the problem (and solution) might be. Thanks in advance Dazza |

Update on the issue in case anyone is interested....
This morning the car flashed up a fault relating to the driver restraint system - so I'm guessing the clicking from the steering wheel is related to an airbag fault (or vice versa) The car is Lloyds BMW Newcastle for investigation and resolution. Fingers crossed I might get some goodwill contribution to the cost of repair from BMW. I wonder if it could be related to this Mercedes airbag issue http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-41633941 The clicking noise I heard is quite possibly the clock spring too. |

I had this noise when I first picked up mine. It then went away as swiftly as it came along. I never bothered to check if it was anything important, I just assumed it was nothing. I still believe the clicking noise is unrelated to this fault
