Removing lower part of steering wheel trim?

Does anyone know how to remove the lower part of the steering wheel trim, the Y shaped leather part with the M badge on it? I ask because I purchased a Carbon Fiber cover for mine on eBay which since it arrived has become quite obvious that it won't be a perfect fit. But I figured I would at least try to slap
it on to see if by some miracle it does fit.

lucky, I had to buy the whole steering wheel to get the carbon fiber cover. Mine was installed at the dealership

I was thinking about buying the whole wheel but I want to keep my leather wheel and my big M badge.

I think it just goes over the stock piece. You have a picture of what it look likes?

I was thinking it may go over the stock piece but it just doesn't fit that way. I'll take a picture as soon as I get in the car, it's sitting in my glove box.
