Throttle response
I just wanted to see how you find the throttle response in the M6?
When I use the full manual mode, max shift speed and engine mode on sport+ it is generally ok, but day to day driving I always load up my settings on M2 as soon as I get in the car with automatic gears on 2/3 or max shift speed and engine mode on sport+. However I still find the car is not very smooth on throttle response, feels sluggish and as though things take a 1/2 second to get going. What is strange is that I was driving a 2014 320d (also Auto) and it felt MUCH better. Smooth power - and the power delivery exactly as I would expect, very predictable, was much easier to use and the car felt much more agile and nimble. Made my 2013 M6 feel very cumbersome in comparison, sluggish to get moving... ...never thought I would write that about an m6 vs 320d... |

Did you say you set it to automatic? How so? The car works best with all settings on Sport Plus and on manual mode. If your car feels more sluggish than a 3 series of any kind then it's time to get it urgently looked at. Make sure throttle response isn't set to Efficient mode as this setting is designed to make throttling less responsive to minimize excessive acceleration and improve fuel economy.

Are you kidding me??
How in the earth is possible a car with 600HP that can reach 0-60 under 4 second is sluggish and a car with less than 200 HP (actually 180HP) that can reach 0-60 over 7 second is not??? what do you mean with "smooth" ... are you referring to acceleration from zero and 1/2 second delay to go? maybe your DSC prevent acceleration??? have you ever checked MDM mode? do you have good tires?

Maybe what you are feeling or referring to is the turbo lag. It takes about 1/2 second for the them bad boys to spool and then it kicks you in the ass. Is that what you might be referring to?
They do sell a device that makes the pedal even more sensitive/responsive . I think Mr Karim on here has it on his car. Brian |

The car itself is fine, I drove 2 other M6s and they are the same.
Well I checked and my M2 button setup (which I use daily) was on automatic (speed 2 out of 3) and sport plus engine setting. I have since changed it to automatic, speed 3 out of 3. And it is a lot better as it hangs around in lower gears for longer. My previous car was an SL... 5.5 V8 supercharged, so it did have very instant throttle response. Also it was a much 'lazier' gearbox, so if you were in 3rd or 4th and gave it 30%-50% gas at 30mph-40mph then it would just make use of the torque and accelerate up. I find that the M6 often likes to drop down a gear, which gives it an extra moment to get moving. That in combination with the turbo lag mentioned, I suppose that is what is giving me the problems with feel. |

The transmission also takes into your most recent driving style in how quickly it reacts in non-M mode. So if you are driving leisurely, the car is not as responsive to save gas. That is why, in slow moving traffic, I have my M1 button to the max level throttle response to provide with the quicker response I need to dart around.
