What kind of real-world MPG is everyone getting?

List them here.

I'm still too early into my ownership ...

It's funny I have never monitored or track milage. I know a lot of people do but I just put gas it my cars at about a quarter tank and move on.

Likewise with me.... add gas when needed and keep going!! lol But after 5000 miles on our 650i Coupe about 15mpg around town and we did a road trip this summer about 300 miles each way and surprisingly got 26mpg round trip!!! Now, if you're like Southern22 and leave the car in sport mode, (it does sound sweet!!) you'll get less!!

Let's face it........ none of us bought these beauties for the great gas milage...lol lol

My First Tank: 9.4 mpg
Average MPG for the life of the car (per the onboard computer): 11.9 mpg; currently approximately 6500 miles on the odo.
Mean Average: 11.0 mpg
Mode Average: 10.7 mpg
Highway with Cruise Control set to 75 mph: 23.4 mpg

What I tell people when they ask what kind of mileage I get and I don't wish to bore them to death with the above figures pulled from the Numbers (Excel) spreadsheet I keep on my phone: 10.5 to 11.0 mpg

This is primarily city driving as I rarely get on the interstate these days. When I do go on the interstate for a somewhat significant distance (not counting interstate driving for the sole purpose of *ahem* driving faster lol), I've seen combined MPGs in the 16 to 17 mpg range.

Unfortunately, most of the time when I fill up, the trip meter is at about 175 to 190 miles per tank of gas. I hit the 204 mile mark when I filled up yesterday, but it said I had 5 miles left before I'd be out and my driving for the duration of that tank was probably a little tamer than usual. The most I've ever gotten out of a tank is 236.5 miles, and that was with a fair bit of boring interstate driving. I know a range isn't exactly a scientific measure since I fill up at somewhat variable levels, but it is typically when I get to the car saying I've got 15 to 20 miles worth remaining.

I like my lead shoes and the sound of Sport mode. I never take the car out of Sport mode unless I'm sitting in heavy traffic and I want to make the ride slightly less jerky with all of the stop-and-go. I get in the car every morning thinking that a trip without hearing the turbos kick in and the booming noise of exploding hydrocarbons is a trip wasted. Thus, my mileage sucks, and I'm okay with that - my apologies to the polar bears. I got this car to have fun and enjoy. The 6er's TT V8 is already a product of greener power output, and I know by the time I'm in my 40s and 50s this breed of car will be essentially extinct. Gotta enjoy it while I can

I don't quite have 1,000 miles on my 650i, and I'm averaging a little over 15 mpg in mixed city and highway driving.

My commute is about 1/2 city, 1/2 highway, and I usually clock right around 17 mpg (in Sport mode at all times). On a highway trip, it'll run around 22 or so.

When I picked up the dealer was running through the systems, and clicked through the options under teh speedo. When he got to gas mileage, he said, 'You don't want to look at that" and quickly clicked by.

As stated, none of us got this car for its environmental benefits. Of course, I saw a study recently that said the average hybrid pollutes more during its constrution than a car getting 30 mpg does its entire life, so there is that to help you sleep at night if you need it.

Getting about 20 mpg in mixed driving.

I don't think I could get 11.9 like Southern even if I tried.

Has anyone else noticed that the 528i gets better (reported) mileage than the ActiveHybrid 5? I saw that at the dealership when I was looking around the other day. I guess the AH5 gets a bigger engine so you have more power than the 528i if you want it. I think I'd just get the 528i if MPG is a major concern. Otherwise, get the 550i instead of the AH5 and get even more power for about the same money. While the AH5 is a good concept, I don't think I'd buy one. Gets points for super-geek technology, but that's not enough to justify getting a car that seems a bit of a misfit (aside from the need for such a hybrid in the lineup).

The first first brim-to-brim on my 640i gave me 32.9 mpg (UK Imp gals) on a trip of 430 miles, with the OBC indicating 33.2, so there's no significant discrepancy between indicated and actual.
Granted, the trip was mostly on Motorways and fast A roads, but I spent a good deal of time snarled up in traffic jams on the M25 and M1.
I'll be more than happy to average 27ish in the long term.

I totally agree that relatively high fuel consumption has to be expected with cars such as these. However, I have always monitored my MPG as a matter of routine; not for reasons of economy, but more from an engine health monitoring standpoint.

Traffic sucked this morning, averaged just under 20 mph all the way in, computer showed 14 mpg.

Clearly, it's not fast cars that are killing the planet- it's slow drivers!

And these slow drivers are driving Priuses (Priusi pl? lol) accelerating from 0-60 in 12 seconds. Congratulations, you get 45 mpg while there are 100 people in your wake getting crappy mileage, the you've got everyone trying to get around pulling stupid maneuvers causing lethal road hazards. I may be mistaken, but it seems like hybrids are killing people, the atmosphere, and polar bears. Here's to hoping the proton exchange membrane fuel cell becomes viable in the near future.

Hey guys - I wanted your opinion. I noticed a few tanks ago I got a little less than 300 miles for a full tank - mostly highway some city. So I wanted to do a test. I drive about 5 miles each way to work, 3 highway, 2 city. I drove this last tank on comfort plus the whole time and very few hard pulls. Over 2.5 weeks I would say it was 50/50 highway/city and I got about 255 miles to a full tank. Is that way off? I can see if I was driving sport and hard launches but I'm not. Just wanted to hear some opinions...Thank you

I typically get 190 miles per tank in mostly Sport mode doing predominately city driving. I rarely get over 200. I can't speak about Comfort+ mode because I haven't been able to harness enough self control to go very long without switching into Sport to pin myself to the seat and hear the engine roar. Don't get that in Comfort+...

Overall, I'm still running in the 10.5 to 12.2 mpg range.

Hey southern. Thank you.

I guess that's in line then. Just wanted to make sure!

10mpg, I love it

Yeah, 10 mpg isn't exactly green or a bargain. Don't think too many of us were worried about these issues when buying these cars.

That's crazy. In 2500 miles since new, I'm getting 16.6 mpg in mixed city/hwy on my M6. I drive half the time in comfort and half in sport.
