Have you gotten out of the car to look at the rear camera to see why the car is asking you to check it? Or are you assuming all is well because you can see an image on the display?

Could the camera be at an incorrect angle, or perhaps the camera is getting wet because the rubber boot (#13 in diagram below) that protects it is damaged. You can’t see that damage if you remain in the car or the Roundel closes and you can’t see it when you do get out of the car. Or is the Roundel remaining open after the camera turns off…or is getting stuck as it tries to open/close?

Boot has been replaced made no difference. Roundel opens and closes as it should. Notice the error says "lens" and yes i did clean the lens. I was in dealership for oil change and they said there was no visual and obvious issue but for $300 they could do a diognostic

Thanks for the update…it shot down the things I was thinking could be the issue. My 2013 f06 never had an issue with the rear cam and the rubber boot was in great condition even when I sold it back in 2020. My 2015 f06 was the opposite…the rubber boot was shredded as if Wolverine or Edward Scissor Hand owned the car previously…or perhaps it was a female owner with long fingernails. And the Roundel got stuck once…which I lubricated the sides & hinges with Tri-Flow and that problem never came back. (See pics below of 6 series with rear Roundels stuck in the up position.

Can you switch back and forth between rear view and surround view when you press down on the iDrive controller? Asking in case the issue may be a hiccup on the communication bus that all the cameras operate over.
