Passenger AC Vent Replacement

Sup everyone ,

Wanted to see if anyones replaced the passenger side car vent by chance before I go all In on this I’ve found diy on the side bumper reflector and steering wheel which were a success from YouTube but couldn’t find anything on the passenger side ac vent aside from center console ones and driver side ugh,I checked to see if it had a screw /torx screw on the side when u open the door but nothing just a little mini circle vent . I have a 2016 F13 Coupe .

The official removal instructions consist of a photo using a plastic pry tool prying out the bottom edge first. That is consistent with how I believe it would be attached. There are no screws on the other vents either.

If there's any hardware...I'd assume it should show up in the diagram on realoem or bimmercat.

Edit: ...looks like there's two different types of screws...see #3 & #4 in diagram...but when compared to TIS...they must hold the vent to the duct work:

Lift out fresh air grille (1) with special tool 00 9 325 toward the front.

If you notice on the pics the front part of the a/c vent(the face) attaches to the duct section . The clips need to be sheered off /grinder down because there’s really no other way to detach ,I’m pointing at it with the the flat head exactly at the parts they connect to , I tried to pry /press and release but nothing , I used a drimmel tool to just grind it down(my only solution)(but be very careful not too damage the duct part for when u attach the new face it can then easily clip on without any issues ). The right side of the ac vent did look like it had a torx screw but luckily for me it didn’t have it and was able to pry it off from the bottom as stated by op :thumbsup not sure if the pics will help but that’s pretty much it .

Also if anyone needs to know I bought the part on eBay and took about 2 weeks for it to arrive , bolts/clips in like oem and no fitment issue whatsoever. I’ve also bought a eBay steering wheel bare and fitment was also great with no issues just transferring your wiring etc which is pretty straightforward I also posted pics on here if you’re curious

I'm confused. So you removed it the way we said - just pried it out - but had trouble separating the vent from the duct?

I just looked at real OEM, and the grill and vent tube are all one part, so I'm not too surprised you had trouble separating them. But where did you buy just the grill part?

That’s correct , separating the vent from the duct there’s pretty much no way to try and unclip it without having to break one of them in the process I almost broke one but managed to keep it on . So I grinded down the (male) as u can see in the pics in order for them to slide off the (female) clips if that makes sense

That makes sense , but yep all it needed was just grinding down those clips in order for them to slide out easily and won’t harm the duct at all as long as your careful , it’s easy tbh . So I stated I bought it on eBay here’s the link I’ll attach it on here . Just make sure u choose LHD and not RHD (right hand drive ) . They’re a bit pricey but worth it for me not sure how much are they at the dealer assuming they only sale as a whole part (duct and vent together as stated) so I’m guessing the route I went thru is good and save money imo

The entire assembly as a genuine BMW part can be had for as low as $104 online from BMW dealers who sell that way. Given the work you had to do to fit the part from China only you can decide if you are ahead or not.

The bmw dealer price is not bad at all , good to know , I bought the vent along with the steering wheel and other stuff as a bundle so that’s one reason I went that route unless I know the part looks cheap and has bad reviews then I won’t pull the trigger but this part from China fits just like oem regardless with no issues .

THe ebay link was for all three vents (Driver/middle/passenger). Was that dealer price for all three, or just the passenger?
