M5 Akrapovic exhaust on M6 Gran Coupe??

Hi,

Do any of you know if the M5 akrapovic exhaust or any other aftermarket exhaust will fit on the M6 GC without any modifications? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

The only thing that are the same are the center pipe lengths. The M5 and M6 GC canister hanger placement is different and the exhaust tip protrusion points are angled differently.

Interesting.... I have been looking at used Turner Muffler Deletes to buy for my M6GC....and thought I had identified that just the hanger placement was different on the axle back section? How different are the protrusion point angles?

When I was thinking of switching my M6 eisenmann race mufflers to the M5 I contacted Eisenmann and IND and both said the inlet pipe and bracket/fastener positions are different. I test fitted one from the other and it didn't line up.

Not sure about the turner since they don't have muffler canisters but I assume the inlet pipes are angled differently but since its just a pipe on the turner, I would think a exhaust/muffler shop can easily modify it.

Huh that is strange. I messaged IND and they confirmed for me that the m5 and m6 GC exhaust was the same for the akrapovic.

I know for sure that the MPE is different. They have different part numbers.

I also talked to a fellow member who says that his F06 M6 Gran Coupe Akrapovic system fit on his f10 M5 with no modifications.

Hmmm... I measured the "center to center" width of the exhaust on a neighbors M5 and my M6GC.... it's 40.5" on the M5 and 44.5" on the M6GC. So I passed on Turner Deletes.... I know the rearmost hangars in are in a different position but could be bent to the right position.... maybe the center pipes are further apart on the M6GC to accomodate that the exhaust exits in the rear bumper are 4 inches further apart?

I never did any measurements so idk the numbers but prior to me putting my Akrapovic from my m6 GC to my f10 m5, I witnessed at a shop, they put a stock uncut m6 GC exhaust cat back on a f10 m5, that's when I found out it was possible, so I asked the guys at the shop about it and the response was" we do these all day" the m6 GC and the f10 m5 even share the same suspension. Again the m6 coupe is different

Can you clarify if this you dealt with an MPE or the akrapovic exhaust?
Yes I know they are both made by Akra.

That's what I'd like to know.
I've been told no in terms of the Akrapovic MPE.

This is my last explanation, last week I sold my Akrapovic I told you guys about prior, came across a brand new M performance exhaust that was ordered for a m6 GC for a great price and it's on my f10 m5 right now with no modifications, so guys I've done this twice w/ no problems.

Anyone know what process there is in taking akra from m6 GC to M6 Convertible. Is it simply cutting part of the middle making it a bit shorter to fit?

Hi guys, I just wanted to update all of you on my findings. Basically any M5 exhaust will fit on a M6 GC with no modification. The only difference is the muffler hangers on the M5 are a bit shorter than the one on the m6 GC. This can be remedied by flipping the stock exhaust bracket when you re installing the m5 system. I just installed a full M5 eisenmann race on my m6 GC, so can confirm that this will work. The m6 GC Exhaust will go on the m5 a lot easier as there is more rod for adjustment. PM me if you want more details. I will try to post some pictures later on.

M5 F10 BMW Competition Package exhaust on M6 GC

kong24680 I know the post is quite old but....I have to come back to the M5 muffler fitting on a M6 GC. I have the chance in getting a BMW M5 Competition F10 muffler. It is stated that it is for a M5 with competition package only.
