Did you know?
I was wondering if any of you 6GC veterans had discovered something new or something hidden ( a feature or design ) that really surprised you in the Gran Coupe. Sure it's probably in the manual but do share your discoveries here!

Odd little thing: kmh speed readout in EcoPro mode on MFI displays
When you switch to EcoPro mode on a car equipped with the MultiFunction Instrument Display, even if the car settings are to mph, the speed readout is in kmh and cannot be configured to mph.

There is a mph marking along the circumference, so at 30 mph, the 20 and 40 markers light up, no other mph visible but the central readout is in Kmh.

Hmm, not sure if that's legal!
The speedometer must be working and visible at all times and must never show a speed lower than it actually is, it must also show mph. However I'm not sure if it must show mph all the time or if the capability to show mph is sufficient. From what you say there are two possible points that may be illegal, although both probably ambiguous : 1) It's not showing mph. 2) The marking around the circumference, in indicating 20-40 at 30mph is potentially showing a speed lower than it actually is. I'd say worth raising with BMW, it must be possible for a software update to allow a mph display. |

My Canadian model has the speedo in kms only, but the HU display can show mph if desired - good for travel in the US which hasn't yet seen the light of the metric system!

3 windscreen nozzles
First BMW I have driven that has 3 spray nozzles for the windscreen wash, never seen that before! Even the wide 5 Series GT had the normal 2

Everywhere I go, the car causes people to "double take" and stare.

I am sure many know this already but just in case -
Plan your trip on google maps on your computer and then send it to your car from google maps (send button- use your connected drive user name)-it will appear in your BMW online messages and you can start guidance from there This makes my navigation so much easier.

The Google maps "Send to Car" function is awesome. Much easier to find a place on Google maps than the iDrive display. It just takes some planning to find your place before you get in the car.

I have to say that Eco Pro mode was a surprise. I can get decent MPG in that mode. For the longest time, I thought that Eco Pro mode in this car was oxymoronic. Eco Pro mode works so well on highway driving, and I am getting the same MPG as my V6 station wagon.

Go to Menu, settings, units. Pretty straightforward! Good luck, Bill

It must be first activated at the dealership. They have to give BMW your email address and VIN of your car. I suggest call your dealer up. I had problem with my system in the beginning, and I called BMW customer service and they kept telling me to go back to dealership.

Dealer havs done this perfectly and I have tried to contact with BMW roadside service (press the sos button in the vehicle) and they also confirmed the feature is activated. However, it just does not work for me. If you did not mention this on the post I almost have forgot I have this issue. Is there anything associated with Google.ca? |

The Send to Car service is great but not very reliable. I have used it in my last 3 bmws and it is currently not working on my 6. If you want to enable it on your Android phone or tablet, download "Send to Car" from the Play Store.

I am very happy with some of the new media features. Browsing was a bit awkward at first but the "My Favorites" playlist is cool. You can easily add or remove songs and the Random setting is persistent. There also does not seem to be a limit on the number of favorites.
