2015 M6 GC - Delayed Throttle Response
I have had my '15 M6 GC since March of this year. I did the 1200 break-in period by the book. I have about 6000 miles on it now. The throttle response has seemed to worsen as time goes. I am experiencing a strong hesitation after a turn, then it kicks in and makes me look like a crappy driver. It also hesitates when straight but not quite as much as in a turn. I took it to the dealer service department and as usual they could not find anything wrong. Yesterday I had a 335 jump me and the damned lag kicked in. I swear it took 2-3 seconds to accelerate. I was in sport+ mode at the time. Today the lag was constant in all modes. This is really getting frustrating and making me think something is seriously wrong. Has anyone experienced the same thing? Oh, to mention, I am completely stock.
Sincerely, a frustrated M6 owner. Last edited by SouthlakeM6GC; 08-22-2015 at 07:04 PM.. |

if you were in sport+ mode, all traction control devices were turned off, and when the car felt wheelspin, it shut you down. Does it all the time. (watch to see if they are flashing on the dash when it starts to lag, if so, that's whats happening)
Keep DSC on, so it allows a little spin, but you can get rolling. But depending on your traction, it may not matter. With all the controls off, I can break traction at 70+ MPH more often that I want.

It can be DSC kicking in or transmission. I think the first thing you need is to update the software and dealer can do it. They did for me several times in last 2 years. BTW, have you ever tested if the DSC is OFF and still you have the same experience?

gmd2003 - you're spot on with the diagnostic. I guess I am not as much as an enthusiast as most of you guys. I turned the DSC off and this corrected the issue; however, I will most likely not daily drive with the DSC off. I am shocked at the power this thing actually has. It almost seems a waste not to have the M6 as AWD. I couldn't image what it could do with AWD.
What settings do you real enthusiasts use for daily driving? |

If I'm to and from the office, going to dinner, kids in the car, etc...DSC on. By myself and wanting to get on it, MDM. |

Okay, I drove my afternoon commute with: Sport+,Sport,Sport+, S3, MDM. Wow, I have found my new daily driving setting. Any other suggestions? I wish the exhaust was louder.

"funny", I have and am experiencing the same thing with my 2013 M6 F12, with the only difference that it occurs not when I come out of a turn, but rather going straight, driving at about 100kmh/60mph on the Autobahn. If I then "kick" the accelerator hard, nothin happens for about two seconds. But then the rev meter jumps to 4000 and/or 6000, and the car is rather jumping forward. Does that sound familiar to you? I have an appointnment with my BMW garage tomorrow. I hope they have a clue. Could it be a malfunction of the DSC (as I am not coming out of a turn, but going rather straigth, when it occurs)? I also did no full "kick-down". |

I have to add:
the "issue" occurs rather sporadically, but - as said - to my impression and when it occurs, it is always in comparable driving situations (wiuth DSC turned on). There are no lights flashing when it happens. I have the complete Akra installed, but otherwise am completely stock (with regard to the engine). |

What has worked for me is leaving the DSC on but turning off the MDM. You'll experience a little slide or "fish tail" often but completely eliminates the lag. It is now my daily driving setting. I'm sure I will burn through tires much faster, however, the enjoyment outweighs the expense of tires.

Should you decide to upgrade your exhaust, you will certainly get an assortment of opinions.
Mine is the RPI GTM. Pretty much straight pipe (stock downpipes still remain). Pretty beastly sounding. |

You should look into the Sprint Booster. It connects directly to the accelerator pedal. It manipulates the voltage signal. Comes with a button that you have 3 levels of performance. On the RED setting (max) as soon as you touch the gas pedal you accelerate. GREEN is moderate and OFF is well..its off. Its a great inexpensive error free product. I have used these on lots of German car applications and it works very very well. https://www.sprintboosterusa.com/c-735-at.aspx |
