Seat belt and shoulder pain

Well, I'm coming up on two years of happy ownership of my car all except for one thing. The seatbelt is causing me quite a bit of discomfort almost to the point I don't want to use it. It restricts and pulls on the shoulder too much.

Does anybody know if there's a device on the market or contraption that will reduce the seatbelt tension?

The seatbelt tension is to protect you in the event of a collision. A seatbelt that is too slack will not prevent you hitting the steering wheel or dashboard in the event of a collision.

It is more likely that you have not adjusted the seatbelt mount on the B-pillar (if indeed this is adjustable on your car model) to suit your height so I would raise it or lower it so it fits correctly.

Pads as suggested may also cushion the belt running across you.

I would not alter the seatbelt tensioner or mounts in any way. I believe this is also a MOT fail in the UK.

Thanks for you reply. I have the sport seats and the belt comes out of the back of the seat and over the shoulder - this is causing the problem.

Unfortunately it isn't adjustable nor does a pad help.

I was hoping there might be some gizmo that will raise the belt above the seat to take pressure off the top of the shoulder.
