New Owner - Query

Hello All,

After two years with a Range Rover I've just collected a BMW 640d M Sport in Alpine White with some options, including a panoramic glass sunroof, 20 inch alloys, cinnamon brown leather and piano black trim.

One query I have is in relation to removal of the piano black interior trim, mine has swirl marks in various areas and my car detailer has advised he'd like to remove it before he polishes it. Anyone have any idea how to remove the trim around the gear selector/centre console?

I look forward to utilising the forum and wonder if there are any other Scottish members out there?

Funnily enough, I do! I had to once have my brushed aluminium centre trim replaced in my 640d due to seatbelt dent marks... In a nutshell, if I remember correctly, the lower plastic bit of trim next to your leg pops off first, then its a job and a half removing that from the car without the clips behind it scratching the side of the leather armrest (!!!!!), then you'll be in a position to access the black piano black trim around the gearstick area... I'm not sure if the piano black trim is held in by a screw or not, I didn't get to see that bit.

I'm pretty sure that's the trickiest bit of trim to change, and the other bits of piano black should be easier to change i'd imagine.
