This is a wierd place to ask this but...

I have been working really hard at buying a M6 vert (in my head). I have also been looking at a SL 550 at the urging of my wife (wife is happy, everyone is happy???).

Has anyone else made this comparison? Have you driven a SL 550 for any length of time? What are your opinions, comparisons. Thanks a million, I have asked for info before on this site and haven't been disappointed.

I have test drove a SL550 and drove my friend's M6 coupe before.
The SL550 does not seem the right vehicle for me. The interior is nice but same as I felt in the CLS, it's kind of cold feeling. However, when I sits in M6 Coupe I thought I was really going to drive a super luxury performance car.
For driving: these two cars also feel different. Even M6 is not a small car, but it does feel smaller than its size, but Sl550 did not give me the kind of feeling.
If I am in this market, definitely I would go with M6. However, SL550 is also a nice car.
If you wanna drive a car slowly in the downtown for kind of status, get SL550.
If you wanna get a car for comfort performance and eye-catching.M6 will be top choice.
just my two cents. Can't go wrong with either.

I can't stand the exterior design (front) of the SL550.

It also looks like an old man's car. I have not driven it though so I can't comment on the ride.

Performance and looks (subjective) go to the M6. I just would want a hardtop if I ever got a vert so that makes your dilemma tough for me to answer... Id lean M6.

Oh its not a weird place at all to ask, M6 forum is....... here. I dont have any seat time in either car just the coupe I own which I enjoy very much.

You could also consider the SL63, makes your wife happy, has some serious spunk, but still doesn't get over the looks of the SL.
