NO iDrive Touch Pad for 2014 6-Series

Much to my disappointment, I've come to learn that NONE of the Model Year 2014 6-series derivatives will be fitted with the new iDrive Touch Pad technology.

I was originally told by BMW NA that the Touch Pad feature would be incorporated/introduced on ALL U.S.-spec 6-series cars with the advent of July 2013 production. For some reason, this now has all changed.

I've read several threads that intimate that the iDrive Touch will be in the LCI, either late 2014 or early 2015.

Also of note some are saying that from the July 13 production on cars actually have all the hardware to implement this and a software update will give these cars iDrive Touch functionality.

If possible, please post the links for these threads. Much appreciated!

The lack of iDrive Touch on the 6 series boggles the mind! Even the 3-series and 5-series cars currently have it at this point.

Has anyone been able to confirm if definitely no touch pad for the 2014 6s? and if no touch pad, does that mean that the 6s are not getting the latest 4.2 idrive update either?

My contact at BMW NA has confirmed that Model Year 2014 6 Series car will indeed have the new iDrive 4.2 software updates as of July 2013 production, but no Touchpad for the entire MY2014.

I'm also told that there's currently no way to retrofit a MY2014 6 Series with Touchpad hardware, even if it has the July 2013 4.2 software.

Yes my SA also told me the entire 6ers will have the latest version of Idrive, but for the touchpad, he told me he even never heard BMW is going to add this on 6ers before LCI.
