Wheel offset advice

Hi guys!

I have a 2013 640i. I'm changing my wheels to 20" and need some help with the offset and fitment. I'm sitting on H&R springs.

The sizes that they recommended me are:

20x9 ET35 front and 20x10 ET35 rears (255/35/20f and 275/35/20r)
or
20x9 ET35 front and 20x11 ET40 rears (the shop recommended 255/35/20f and 285/35/20r or 295/30/20r)

I would like to go with the 20x11 rears. I prefer meaty tires over the thin ones. I don't mind a slight stretch on the tires, as long as it doesn't rub the fenders or look ridiculous.

Will the 20x11 ET40 stick out past the rear fenders?

Thanks for your help, I really appreciate it! I'm new to the community, so sorry if this subject may have been covered before...

Is that picture your car? If so, you already have M5 343 wheels. Use an offset calculator to compare what you have now to what you are proposing. The offset calculator will tell you how many more or less mm of poke you will get from the setups you are contemplating.

IMO, you want a 265 on 9" wheel and a 295 minimum on an 11" wheel, probably 305.

Do you have xdrive? because if so, you need to match the diameter of your tires front and rear or you will damage your transmission.

Below is a wheel calculator that I use. Those recommendations for the front are spot on if even a bit conservative as it will only put your wheels out 4mm more than the stock set up.

Their recommendation for the 10" rear is a bit aggressive as it will put your wheels out 22mm more than stock.

Their recommendation for the 11" appears way too aggressive as it will put the wheels out 29mm more than stock. By most accounts, about 18mm more aggressive in the rear will make your wheels flush. 29mm will likely have them sticking out from fender.

Check what tires you want to use as well. Toto t1r fit fine, and MPSS rubbed intensely, such that I had to shave both bodywork and the back pad a few mm

I have 21x9 ET 30-35 and 21x11 et ~35-40, cant remember the exact number.
255/30 and 295/25 tyres, no rubbing. Could go with 2-3mm spacers in rear.
