September 12, 2016

The Mondial de l’Automobile Paris 2016 (Paris Motor Show) being held from 1 – 16 October 2016 will provide the setting for the show premieres of the new BMW 3 Series Gran Turismo and the BMW i3 with a more powerful battery and increased range. BMW Motorrad, meanwhile, is staging the world premiere of the BMW C evolution e scooter, which likewise features a battery with higher capacity and longer range. And BMW is also using the Paris show to present its recently launched personal mobility assistant, BMW Connected.

Show premiere: The new BMW 3 Series Gran Turismo serves up its blend of luxury-class elegance, sportiness and spaciousness in even more sophisticated form, thanks to new engines offering even more power and yet greater efficiency, a more visually striking exterior and an even more smoothly styled interior

Show premiere: The latest variant of the BMW i3, with its new 94 Ah battery, boasts a range that has increased by over 50 per cent. On the standard NEDC cycle, it achieves a range of 300 kilometres (186 miles) instead of the previous 190 kilometres (118 miles). Besides this, there are extra equipment options for the BMW i3 as well as new, more powerful BMW i Wallbox charging stations for home garages.

World premiere: BMW i is also presenting the BMW i8 Protonic Dark Silver Edition special-edition model.

BMW has been offering BMW Connected since August. This all-encompassing digital concept provides a seamless support tool for personal mobility – thanks to digital products and services that are designed to simplify, above all, the day-to-day planning of driving routes and appointments. With BMW Connected, mobility begins before you climb on board. BMW Connected is a digital mobility assistant that combines functions and services to assist the user.

A bit surprising that they will not be showing the new G30 5 Series sedan.

Also, I apparently read too much into the other thread about BMW management skipping the Paris show. I had incorrectly thought that meant that they had decided BMW would not have a presence at the show at all. Glad to see this is not the case, though with no significant new models to debut, it won't be the most exciting show for BMW fans.

I suppose the G30 will get its own private launch event then. Maybe this month?

G30 will debut at the Detroit Auto Show in January following closed room events

Frankfurt and Paris shows rotate with each other so I doubt they will unveil it in Fall of 2017. Geneva would be a good guess

I heard that the G30 sedan will be shown at Detroit and the wagon(G31 ?) will be shown at Geneva. I think the IAA Frankfurt show(in September every two years - odd years) is too far away from the launch time.

I also assumed BMW would have no presence at the Paris show. Sounds like we miss understood the press release.

GAAHHH!
Stop referring to the battery size by Ah. Ah is a unit that doesn't make sense unless you also know the voltage of the battery.
33 kWh is the correct number and unit to use to actually know how much energy it stores.
By the way, its ~half to a third of what Tesla offers....

Thanks. I'll be able to see it in person after the press days then.

It's a bit strange since production starts in November and presumably there will be cars on the road (somewhere in the world) by December.

But of course that's the live debut. I gather we'll see the Internet reveal with press releases and pictures a few weeks sooner.

IDK... Maybe I heard wrong. IF production starts in November... I'm sure there will be some early "zero" production cars on the roads way before then(Nov). I suppose Frankfurt's IAA show then makes more sense. Are we sure about a November SOP ?

Definitely November:

http://g30.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1289335

As noted above by others, Frankfurt and Paris are bi-annual "sister shows". I think maybe they'll just reveal it all online in this case, before production cars are out in the wild.

Yes it is a third of what Tesla offers... can you expect this small car to have a battery in the size of a Tesla? The Tesla is a humongous car comparative.

We're holding the closed room event on 7th of October. In fact, most dealers in my country have closed room event scheduled in October.

I expect BMW to make the online debut for the G30 this month.

Ah yes, how could we forget. Jason had previously mentioned it will be coming to Paris:

Though maybe plans have changed?

Would be nice to get specs on the new high output B46 for the 35i model too, but I suppose we'll have to wait until the official announcement of the production vehicle for that.

Seriously? A different color on the i8 constitutes to a world premiere nowadays?
This is the car company that's celebrating it's 100th anniversary right?
So dissappointing.

A friends of mine has driven one(F30, M340i) and said the engine Hp is highly under rated.

Also... M Performance is about to debut a much larger offering across all BMW model lines. Should get very interesting soon.
