Wow, this scares me - I almost bought an M6 GC last night until I found out that BMW no longer offers maintenance and no more powertrain warranty after 5 year on CPOs. They wanted almost $8k for a maintenance contract - I didn't even get into the cost of an extended warranty.

I would never own one of these (or any BMW) w/o a warranty. Risk is too high. During the first 4 years you can extend the warranty up to 3 years/36k miles. I went with 2/74k on mine at a cost of $5200. Has paid for itself so far with three warranty claims. Will have a major decision this fall, extend through third party or get a newer car.
