Yet another confirmation that BMW is seriously understating power output for this engine!!
Sweet! BTW I have dynoed mine when it was 11 months old with 5700km on the counter. Stock car with comp package, no mods. Both runs were around 611WHP. Which is consistent with yours. Last edited by MP; 12-16-2015 at 02:58 AM.. |

Am I missing something??? I was under the impression that my stock 2012 M6 makes 560 crank hp (according to BMW) and that drivetrain loss is usually between 10-15% so these cars stock should barely break 500 wheel hp on a dyno (I know all dynos run a little different), how are people getting 600whp???

The general speculation is that BMW and MB, for that matter, tend to underestimate HP specs. While there is no definite consensus, I like to think that the Germans prefer to give HP numbers which are more accurate "at the wheel" rather than "at the crank".
Furthermore, they also tend to publish slower 0-60 times as well, IMO. |

I have read bmw's official 0-60 times of 4.2 for an f12 yet car and driver recorded 3.7 on an f06 which I assume to be somewhat comparable. That's a pretty good difference I can't see the U.S. Big three doing, I almost expect the opposite from them. In my experience with my 335, there is a much smaller underestimation of hp and 0-60 numbers, I wonder why the difference is so much larger with the M6 types...
