Detroit 2015: BMW M6 in Austin Yellow

The center of attention at this year's BMW's Detroit auto show display is the 2015 BMW 6 Series and M6. While the LCI 6 Series features more minor refreshed styling, the M6 gets only new, standard-fitted LED headlights.

The M6 on display is eye catching nonetheless. Presented in Austin Yellow for the first time, this is a one-off M6 to showcase what's possible with BMW Individual and doesn't signal that Austin Yellow will become a standard or factory Individual color available for the M6. Of course, you could always order the M6 in Austin Yellow (or any color you desire) for about 5 grand.

The color is beautiful on the M6 as it compliments the gold M carbon ceramic brakes and contrasts against the black wheels, carbon fiber mirrors, and carbon fiber tips of the M Performance Exhaust. The yellow theme continues inside with abundant yellow stitching throughout the interior.

Sweet, I like the AY especially with the black interior and yellow stitching.

But these new headlights are not doing it for me. The pre-LCI LED's are more attractive IMO.

This. I didn't think the colour was going to look good on larger cars but this is not bad.

Yes the light bar design now bends down on the outer portion of the lower light bar. They're no longer parallel.

Not sure about brakes or signals.

Was that M badge always on the center console? Is it like that on all M cars?

I feel like the M6 is aggressive but AY isn't doing it for me.

Looks pretty good, way better than I thought actually. But I think LBB would suit the M6 way more.

Personally, AY has shot up to the top of my list for the M2. One thing is for sure though, the color is so ridiculously hard to photograph.

Thought so. Any idea if the inner portion changed at all? A friend of mine just bought a used F13 and is considering retrofitting.

I think it's a nice upgrade. We originally had the circular headlamps, that transformed to getting rings and now we get a more modern take on the rings with the concept headlights.

Very natural combo. But please, stop putting gold CCB on AY cars. It looks weird. Maybe paint them Red?

It's evolving into a more modern interpretation.
