Just bought 2014 M6 CP. Hands Down best car I ever owned.

Cars I have owned so far:

2013 Aston Martin V8 Vantage
2014 Porsche 911
BMW E92 M3's
2014 BMW 650i
2015 Range Rover V8 Supercharged

And WOW. I am blown away by the M6. I wouldn't do a single thing to it other than a few minor cosmetic mods. And MAYBE try and get some more sound out of the exhaust. Any recommendations ? Is the exhaust flap mod worth it or should I just get some high flow cats?

Thanks!

Where'd you pick it up from? Braman or Fields?

Which 911 model did you own? I had always assumed the Vantage V8 was a great driving experience....hmmm. Admittedly, I've haven't driven many varieties of sports cars, but the best experience I've had is the 991.1 Turbo S. And the M6 comes close to matching the theater of that car.

Anyways, to your question, the flap mod is not really worth it IMO. It just sounds louder at start up. But then again, I've only known the Akrapovic/MPE. And that exhaust overwhelms whether flapper mod you do to it.

If you want a mature sounding exhaust, I would do the Akra/MPE. If you want crazy draw attention loud go with Eisenmann race, Miesterrschaft, etc, they're all on the same level of crazy.

LOL

I resemble that remark.

Bought my M6 with a Meisterschaft SGT Ti full exhaust - the whole F'n thing from the manifold back. It can draw attention if you get on it, but if you don't drive like a teenager looking for a ticket, you shouldn't have a problem.

Truthfully, I would not have spent that sort of money (about $9 grand) on my own - I think your comment about a "mature" sound is quite right. I'm in a different place in my life right now, and racing kids with lawnmowers (Honda/Toyota, etc) is not of interest to me.

But there are those days when 'gurgling' through our one-traffic-light-town does provide a source of amusement.

I just had the 911 base, in stick shift. I picked it up for around 80k which to me was totally overpriced for what you get. I got my M6 for 60, and its 3 times the car the Porsche was. I just bought catless dps and getting a tune (not sure which one yet) I really don't want anything crazy loud, just want to enhance the stock note.

hahaha yeah im just being biased toward my age now, I don't want to draw attention and make loud noises, but I do want to bring out the sound of the V8. I used to have an E92 M3 with an Active exhaust on it and that was perfect.

Downpipes with stock competition exhaust should be the perfect amount of sound that your looking for. The exhaust flapper mod will only open up sound from idle to 3k rpm. There will be no difference from 3k and up.

Congrats! These are amazing cars. I have a beautiful set of 21" adv1 wheels and tires for sale and live here in Miami that would look great on that car.

I shopped 911's before I bought my M6. What you say above is part of what you are paying for with a 911, they depreciate far slower than BMW's do. That 911 will still be worth $50k in 5 years but I don't think our M6's will be worth more than $25k to $30k. 911's are very reliable and don't have near the electronics on them you find on the M6. I almost bought a 2009 911 Turbo for $75k. That car would probably have still been worth $70k in 5 years with as few miles as I put on my toy cars. But, I just loved the look and the comfort of the M6.

Agreed! I think overall the M6 is the best car you can buy. Porsche is uncomfortable as hell and theres no space. I feel like you need a second car when owning a Porsche.
