Time for plugs?

Big Blue has presented a very slight vibration at idle. With almost 68K on the clock I'm thinking I might need plugs and possibly coils? I'm not sure about the coils, but have read that you might as well do them at the same time. Also read some bad things about Delphi coils and that it was best to stick with OEM.

How say you? The BMW coils are rather pricey, but if they are the only ones that work properly I don't mind spending the dough. On the other hand, Do I need them at all?

Your thoughts? It's a 640 GC.

Did my 17 640i plugs at 60K, mechanic said wait on coils.

I did my 650 plugs around 50k. I did not do coils. Who makes BMW coils? You can typically get the same parts cheaper w/o the BMW branding. Is Delphi the only other option?

FCP Euro lists Bosch as OEM on the coils (~1/3 the price). Is unclear as to whether that means Bosch manufactures coils for BMW altogether or for my car in particular. They also list Bremi as OEM, with the leading fitment being Mini…

I believe Delphi and Bosch have made them for BMW over the years. I can’t remember where I read the info, but I believe they have switched from one to the other at some point.

On FCP it lists both Delphi and Bosch as the OE (Original Equipment) for the N55, which means they were both originally used as Genuine BMW coil manufacturers. OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) just means that company produces some kind of original equipment part for BMW, but not necessarily that exact part.

That’s the way I understand it.

I’ve used Delphi on my N55 with no issues. Just my experience.
