DCT or Manual

sorry might sound like a stupid question but how do I know if my m6 cab is a manual or dct? apparently the f12 model is available in both types but I would have thought manual meant like a manual gear box?
dumb question but i am a nubee to this..

I find it a little hard to believe you're not trolling with this question...but maybe it's genuine so hopefully this helps

1)If you have paddle shifters on your steering wheel and use this gearbox- you have. DCT, which can be driven like an automatic

2)If you have a 3rd pedal to the left of your brake, which requires you to step on in order to turn the vehicle on, and step on each and every time you are switching gears (otherwise your car will either stall out or you'll break your transmission) and your gear box looks like this one (this ones mine) it is a manual transmission

And as far as MPG goes, im getting on average 12 on street, 20 high way, with the mixed at about 16

I sometimes regret it. There are seriously sometimes I wish I had gotten a DCT cause bumper to bumper traffic out here is worse than the 405 at 5pm on a Friday afternoon- i swear my left calf muscle is bigger than my right

It's not as dumb as you may think. When I was shopping for a manual-transmission M6GC, some dealers advertised some of their cars as having manual transmissions. When I visited them, they said that cars equipped with paddle shifters on the steering wheel (as in M6-Coupe's photo) were "manual transmission" cars. What a @#$% waste of time it was visiting those dealers.

BMW ONLY offers a six-speed manual gearbox on the USA version F06/F10/F12/F13 M cars! Seeing as you're from London, yours thusly MUST be DCT, etc.

Axtually- you're absolutely correct. Sometimes I swear we know more than they do, especially when it comes to the M division.

Believe me, they are just sales people. Most of them (not all) have no idea about even the difference between DCT and ZF8.... oh yeah they know M-cars have DCT and non M-cars have ZF8...
