Anyone know how to get your texts to show with an iPhone

I can't figure out how to setup the email/text message with my iPhone 6. Anyone know how to do it? I have the bluetooth setup.

Only incoming texts can be read, and then only after the phone has connected via BT.

Since I'm an old school guy, I don't care about text message and email while driving ... Oh and for safety purpose, I even leave my iPhone in center console or glove box

The trick is to go into Settings->Bluetooth->BMWXXXXXX on your iPhone and turn on "Show Notifications" which was off by default. After that incoming texts were viewable on the iDrive office thing.

I'm not an old school guy, but I do the same. I just focus on driving without a care for text messages or whatnot when I am in the M6.

+2

Mind you, you'll need to be really gifted at driving to drive 6spd and text and drive at the same time...

But it can be done! Just far too complicating for my tastes (I don't smoke just seemed appropriate)

I've got a Nexus 5 and my texts show up. As with the iOS phones you've got to enable it in the BT settings of your phone. When you first connect it will ask you something like "BMWXXX wants access to messages. OK?"

Like others, I never really use it. Then again I'm nearly 50 and don't rely on texting like my kids.

Now, the Google Maps "Send to Car" feature I do use.
