Harsh Reverse Gear Engagement From Cold

Hello all

I have noticed that when i start my car from cold and engage reverse i get a really hard clonk as reverse engages, not nearly as bad as the old SMG on my e63 but its sound quite nasty never the less.

Has anyone noticed this ??

What sort of ambient temps are you seeing at cold start.

I am parked underground so never gets too cold and don't get any sort of harsh clunk into reverse.

I suppose a typical temp range is 0 to 5c

Hey, I believe if you go into neutral first, it will clonk slightly and then when you go into reverse it will be unnoticeable, for some reason that's what I noticed on my car. It only clonks if I go straight to Reverse which would go through neutral, it only clonks when going into neutral first thing in the morning

Yes i agree with your findings, though i cant try your sequence until my cars back mid April after that vandalism damage reported in my other post
