How many of you guys did upgrade?

Hey Folks here,
Just want to ask you guys a simple question now.
How many of you guys jumped from a 650/640 to a m6.
I am driving a 650gc cerrently and considered lots of cars for my next one. X6m, m6, porsche cayenne, porsche 911, etc.
However, finally I made my decision my next car gonna be a m6.
Therefore, I just want to ask you guys, do you think I will never been regret about my decision?
Does m6gc really worth the premium? And is it really better than a Porsche Panamera gts?
Any opinion will be appreciate.

Thanks a lot.

I went from a 911 turbo to a M6gc. Porsche loaned me a panamera but the gts is not wen in the same league as the M6. I love the look if both cars but for me the brutal power and sleek looks of the BMW are epic. You won't regret it

You'll appreciate the versatility of the M6 over the standard 6ers. It really drives how you want it to drive. It can be just as laid back and comfortable as the 6er when you want it to be and then as connected and dynamic as you need when you want to really go at it and drive the hell out of it. As to the Panamera, I had a Turbo for 2 months cause the wife insisted she liked it. Long story short I didn't. It felt massive despite being quite fast, and the thing just wasn't pleasant to look at from certain angles. I don't own a GC (Coupe guy here) but I did test drive it extensively when I was shopping for mine. The M6 GC just feels right, it hides it's weight quite well, is just as comfortable as the Panamera, and when comparing it to the GTS it's a lot more powerful and a lot faster. One tip, if possible opt into the Competition Package. It really improves on the steering feel of the car.

Parm....I always wonder if I should've gone for a Panny instead. Just can't get on with the looks though, however the interior is outstanding and I'd imagine dynamically, the Porsche would be better than the BMW's. So, what particular areas is the Panny lagging behind the M6 on?

Ordered Alpine white M6 Gran Coupe with Silverstone interior early this month,it will be ready end of March.
I'm currently driving a 640D (Which is a good car)
Was going to upgrade to a 640D gran Coupe with individual leather and Citrine black, but the cost was just slightly less than the M6 so.....
It wasn't a difficult choice in the end
Can't wait!

You can't compare the two. The motor and trans alone are worth the upgrade. You won't be missing anything. M6 will make your car a distant memory.

well. it depends!
After driving two different 650i coupe in two years I jumped to M6 Coupe.
In fact I started with 400HP and jumped to 445HP with M-sport package and ended up with 560HP M6!
It's really fantastic car and much different from 650. it's not as comfort as 650 but much more powerful and sporty car. The first two weeks I had this car, I regretted and was disappointed because I compared it to 650 (This is my first M car) but after I got used to it, I started enjoying the ride. I am so happy with M6, but again it depends on what you are looking for. M6 is quicker than 650 but handling the car during the hard acceleration is really tricky since you feel side skidding; however it is lots of fun.
The suspension and steering wheel are not as comfortable as 650. Putting all setting in comfort mode is still more sportier than sport+ mode in 650 and this is the nature of this beast.
Good luck with your decision
BTW, DO NOT TRUN THE DSC OFF UNTIL YOU GET USED TO IT. THIS IS NOT 650

Thanks for reply guys. Actually, before I purchased my 650gc, I was unsure between the 650GC Xdrive and M6GC. Finally, I made my decision for the 650GC because I thought I use the car as DD, so the AWD will give me lots of confidence during Ontario Canada winter conditions.
The only concern about the M6GC is just the lack of AWD.
I saw most member use M6 as DD are live in some warm areas. Just wanna somebody share experience about driving the m6 in the snowy and icy conditions.

... if you have really good winter tires, you should be fine (at least up to around 15cm and your dd does not have lots of big incline). M6GC it is !

I live in Ontario, lots of snow here. I drive M6 coupe with pirelli Sottozero tires, and I gotta tell you, it's pretty good in snow! A lot better than my AWD 750xi with all seasonal tires for sure...

I went from a 650 to M6 Vert to M6 GC in less than two years. I do have another car for driving in the snow. I never use my M6 on snow.

That's why I did not get the m6gc and got 650gc instead.
BMW really should learn from AMG put the awd option to m cars especially for m5 and m6gc.

They will Def add AWD to their M's as an option.

I think this has not been their philosophy (at least so far)
Just keep in mind the M car was born as racing car and not street car back 1978. The AWD or what BMW calls X-Drive have different character.
first of all the AWD will increase the weight which is their main concern to reduce the weight and not to increase it. second, AWD does not have the ability of drifting like rear wheel drive. look at this: (all three are rear wheel drive)

Although AWD has much better launch compare to rear wheel drive (the only reason cars like GTR or Audi RS7 or CLS63 s have better 0-60 compare to M6), but at higher speed it will lose the abilities since has to spread the power between 4 wheels.

Finally, BMW M division is concentrating on enjoyable driving that in my opinion AWD does not have as much as rear wheel has. but I totally understand you and as I explained before, that much horse power for a rear wheel drive car is too much! just one mistake causes the sideway skidding . I think still they did a great job on a car close to 600 HP (as most of dyno tests prove) with handling.
look at this: (This E63 is AWD)

For me personally I would never buy a non true M car from BMW. I would pay the extra difference for its worth every penny!

Once you go M it's tough to ever go back.

I really dislike this new trend with BMW of mass producing faux-M Cars. Like the "M" 235i. I think it dilutes the brand. Even the whole "M Sport" line sounds a bit too much like a Mercedes gimmick to me. Not that they shouldn't offer such an option, just they could have called it something else, like just "Sport Line", for example. Though, I guess "M Sport" would obviously sell more.

OP, looks like you can consider the Alpina B6 GC, best of both world, AWD + M6 power.
