M6 Mod Comparisons

Hi everyone,

I have been researching mods for my 2016 BMW m6 coupe (comp package) and since I already have the M perf exhaust, I feel I only need intake and a tune (maybe downpipes) to be all set. I also think it's important to consider performance vs looks vs sound. I put together a few options for intake and tune, please weigh in:

Intake:
MSR $3,000
Eventuri $2,895
Gruppe M $2,600
BMS $429
Dinan $3,089
K&N $550

Tune:
JB4 Stage 1 or 2 $449 and $809
Dinan Stage 1 or 2 $3,089 and $3,346
Hamann (couldn't find price)
ESS $995
G Power (couldn't find price)
PP Performance (Seems to be $550 but the entire site is in German)

What are your thoughts? There are so many options and huge variances in price. Is it really worth 6 times the price to go from BMS to one of the others? Can you justify the price? I don't care how the intake looks as I never open the hood, I want it to sound amazing and increase performance.

Give it a try, you will not be disappointed and if for some reason you find yourself unhappy, take them off and sell them for close to what you paid via the forums or ebay and try something else.

PP Performance is not $550
More like $2500-$3000, nothing tangible all software programming. Hit up Golan AutoTalent
Worth the money, especially with catless DPs.

The PP performance? When I look at their tunes, it looks like they are the only one that customizes it for the competition package. I would rather add to my 600Hp, not have it go to waste with a tune made for the standard 560HP if that makes sense?

How loud are the DPs with M perf exhaust valves open?

I heard you get a nice rattle from the wastegates with open downpipes. Just get an intake, and tune to start. Go from there, but just buy something and enjoy your car dude!

ECU tune is the way to go. Research DME ECU tunes. If you pair this with catless downpipes, you will gain roughly 150whp

Thanks. Is the brand actually called Ecu tune?

Since you're on the west coast, I would contact PP Performance. They are in LA and can do a custom tune for ya at around $2500. I highly recommend getting catless DPs before the tune. You should make 720whp with that configuration. Make sure they gap your plugs as well. That should be part of their tuning process but i figured i throw that out there.

AutoTalent is another option....

I heard of them as well, but who's doing the remapping for you?

My understanding is that a tuner can look at the data log and make customized tune based on your car's setup. So whoever is doing it for you needs to know what he's doing... right?

That's not true. Look at the actual law for warranty in the Us.

I did, you would be unlocking an encrypted ECU that belongs to BMW and modifying engine parameters, the internal flash counter cannot be reset and any tech will be able to know that the ECU was unlocked and flashed, voiding your entire powertrain warranty. You don't have to take my word for it and Speed has already lost his warranty he does not care about yours, but you will see if the time ever comes that the bill for any damages will be coming out of your pocket, even if it's the entire motor and trans. Just know what you're getting yourself into, these are facts and Speed is playing on hopes and dreams that his service tech will save him, but no one will if it came down to that.

It's peace of mind, they still have to prove the blown motor was caused by the tune AND that's if the entire motor blows.

How many M6 motors have you seen blown on here with less than 750bhp running under 22 psi with no other mods?

I'm not trying to, but you should at least let people know what they're getting into when you're selling them on removing the ECU and digging into it before flashing the car. I never once seen you post anything in regards to the flash counter that's internal and cannot be altered, maybe you just found out and now you're scared? Either way enjoy your car, and I'll enjoy mine, but don't tell me what to or not say, you sound like an A**hole when you do.
