Software updates
Hey guys. Took my m6 to a bmw specialist and he found software updates for about 4 modules. He said if im not having any issues w the car its fine w not updating. He also said that sometimes the modules find a fault and need replacement in order to work w the updated software.
I think that if theres a software update, its worth having it. Have you guys done it to stay up to date w the latest version pushed out by BMW? Would love some feedback on this |

You should ask your dealer to perform the software update is there is any update available. It takes only couple hours. Usually this software update minimize or resolve some issues. For example at one point when they performed software update on my M6, the drive got more smooth and shifting changed ... I would do that if I were you

It's best to keep up to date on all latest software versions. Even if your component is acting properly, the revised software was created for a reason meaning, that there are random issues and if you don't experience it now you could later on. I recommend to update to the latest always. |

Dealer will only update if they are getting paid. This is either directly by customer or reimbursed by BMW if they can document issue through testing components or find faults.
There are internal service bulletins, but never official release dates. If someone is offering to update, might as well take it. Some decline updates so personalized coding is not lost, but that can easily be reapplied. |
