M6 charcoal filter removal

Anyone have a step by step process? I did a search and naturally got 100's of posts unrelated to this lol

Resurrecting an old thread. Has anyone done this to their M6? Please chime in. Any adverse effects? From the M5 thread, looks like a lot of them are happy with the results.

Lol! My butt dyno said it made a small improvement, but butt dynos can't really be trusted I feel like I can hear more whoosh noise, which I like, and generally anything you can to free up airflow in a turbo engine is good. It didn't take long to do, although getting that first airbox open was a trick So in general I think it's worth it. Quick easy mod, can't hurt, might help.

There's a MUCH easier way to do it: loosen and remove 1 bolt attached to the body (holding the air box in place), loosen clamp by MAF, remove MAF CAREFULLY, and pop out the airbox. Much easier than reaching the hidden bolt under the intake pipe.

Charcoal filter is for emissions only, in EUR they don't even use them. You'll notice a slight change in sound and performance. Very little, don't expect to spin the tires in 7th gear.

In the M6, there is a black rubber piece that seems to hold the airbox in place in addition to the 1 torx bolt. How did you remove this?

With a little force. It pops on and off similar to the engine cover. They are grommet-like couplers. Just pull straight up...it's the same as M5

Worked like a charm. I ended up removing the while filter box and cleaned them. Much much easier to do than try to access screw#7. It does feel more responsive - better throttle response. I replaced the filters with KNN.
