Winter tires...

Trying to find some rubber to fit my stock wheels - anyone else running winter tires? If so what size/brand/etc.? I don't want to run 265 all the way around

Recommended winter tyres are 255/35 R20 all round. 9J ET32 at the front, 9J ET25 at the back.

255!?! Hmmm… I know on the new 911 they run 295 on 20's for winter tires - can't be done on the M6?!?!

I guess you can run anything you like, so long as it does not rub and is preferably close in rolling radius to the stock fitment.

I've double checked and if you have Ceramic Brakes the only BMW supplied option supplied for the M6 is 255/35 R20 all round, but on different wheels offset front to back, I would imagine that there is a reason but I don't know what, 265/35 R20 all round would be more logical. Without Ceramic brakes they supply 255/40 R19.

I'll probably end up doing 265's all the way around… I don't have ceramics so that's not an issue.

You want narrow tires for snow as that give most weight per sq inch of contact area enhancing traction.

I'm running 265/285 Pirelli sottozero's on my stock 20's. They worked great last winter. I believe they make a 275 as well.

The winter package comes in 19 and 20s. The 20s are required for the ceramics but will work on all. And yes the offsets are different front and rear and in fact marked inside the wheel as front or rear. Same for the 19s. The 19s will perform better in snow having a taller sidewall and narrower tires are always better for cutting through snow.
