I went 18% all around and 70% on the windshield on mine. I did it for privacy and heat protection. If you're doing the tint for just a black out look, I recommend 5%. It comes out straight black!

yeah im doing it for heat protection as well. but mainly for the look. i like dark tint as i feel it helps hold the shape of the car real well. have some pics of 18%? what brand film do you have?

Here's a quick shot of the M4. Same set up 18% around, but I didn't do the wind shield on this car.

I went with Huber Optic.

anything lower than 30% starts to affect night time vision, I went with 35% all around
long ago I did 20% all around with 35% on front windshield that it was affecting my eye judgement and I was backing into stuff at night

Again, it's all personal preference. I'm going with 55 or 45 on 3 sides.

I've had everything from 15-30% recently, and I do think anything under 20 screws up your night vision. I went 15 on this M6 just for looks, but on a car that already has medicore visibility I sometimes wish I hadn't. 20% in my last 750 was just about perfect for me. 35% on '11 7 didn't really look dark enough for my taste. My dealer did my current car for free, but the film quality isn't the best either so one day I may have it pulled off and replaced with 3M 20.

20% all the way around. 5% is too dark and is just asking to get pulled over.

Do they typically do windshield tinting on the outside rather than on the inside as they do on the other windows? If so, I'm wondering if it offers any rock chip protection as well. Lots of little rocks and crap on CA highways.

My preference is 35% all around except windshield. I live in Va. and they're a bit sensitive about this stuff unfortunately.

I did 3M Crystalline 90 on the windshield, cuts heat significantly and not noticeable at night, HUD works same as prior too. I did Crystalinne 40 on all other windows.

This is what your car would look like. I have a 2015 Alpine White. I normally don't go all LIMO tint, but for this car, limo all the way around (nothing on the windshield) just looks right! Absolutely no problems seeing out at night. (I have good vision though...)
