Well, almost imho, 2nd place perhaps. Number one in my book still is the McLaren F1.

both cars have pros and cons. bottom line is the ferrari is a ferrari at the end of the day, sounds amazing and has an exotic look. my dad bough an r8 last spring and i drive it quite a bit, and its a great car as well. the r8 feels feels and looks newer than the 360, and the body/bumper gaps are much nicer and finer in the audi. overall, the r8 has a nicer finish inside-out. the r8 needs an exhaust. way to quiet for a sports/supercar. drive both and see which one works for you. good luck!

a few pics of my dads car.

I was fortunate enough to have 40 mins of seat time in an F430 convertible. I went into the drive expecting to be underwhelmed, and boy was I wrong. Every single thing written about ferraris is true! They may never have the best specs, but when it comes to pure, unadulterated driving experience, there is no comparison. I would imagine the 360 is a slightly muted version of the 430. Also keep in mind that on the same day, I drove a Gallardo Superleggera and McLaren SLR.

R8. Why the hell not? 360 is wayy too high maintenance. At least the R8 is only an Audi and therefore still easy to maintain. Carbon buildup may occur yes but it is easily reversible. But I don't want to be around when something goes wrong in the Ferrari. R8 is much more realistic.

Fixed it for you. It's an old car, old cars have problems, especially old Ferraris, my brother in law is a Ferrari mechanic he reakons it costs about 10% of the purchase price to keep a Ferrari on the road each year.

I'd buy a Porsche myself, failing that I'd take the newer R8.

TBH my best friend's dad had a 1992 F40 with a special exhaust, about 8 years or so ago. My friend always was pushing his dad to go for a Macca F1, though they're both Ferraristi...

345kmh(214mph) on the speedometer was the fastest his dad did on his way back from a Zandvoort Ferrari meeting. He told me it was like going through the soundbarrier but still 'stable'. He was afraid the windscreenwiper and rearviewmirrors would fly off.

this thread is good. my dad was considering the same options. He decided in the end we are going to wait for a F10 M5. The main reason being that the car will have the usual 4 year maintenance and also cause the car is brand new and filled with tech. Also, we will all get to enjoy the ride instead of just him and my mom xD. He was looking at a gallardo,360, or R8.

Made my decision

Guys:

I went to Florida to test the R8 and I have to admit I was not impressed.

It is a sexy car, but dull in it's delivery of power and didn't have that factor of keeping you on the edge of your seat.

When I drove the 360....I fell in love...

I don't know what people are trying to say as far as "outdated" goes, because the the car itself is extremely sexy. It still holds it's "wow" factor and I fell in love at first drive.

It was a matter of finding the right 360 over the weekend and what do you know.....Ferrari of Washington had one one site.

It has 20K on it, but all services were just done on the car. The history of the vehicle displays an extremely meticulous owner and the clutch wear history on the car has it at 68%.

I am not looking to thrash this car around so I am thinking the clutch service is not going to be too close into the future.

I took this one out for a spin (shock....) and it felt even better (probably more mental than anything, but come on.....)

Out the door they are looking for $74,500.

They finished and did all inspections and this thing is in PRISTINE shape!

I am going to close on it today.
