Noob Introduction

Hello all.

Just upgraded from my '13 650 GC to a '17 M6 GC. Interested in tuning, coding and interior/exterior upgrades specific to the M6 GC....but the choices seem limited or I'm not looking in the right places. Don't want to get too crazy on performance mods as I have a domestic for that.

TIA

Hit up Mission Performance in CA for tuning, Codemycar for coding, RK Autowerks cold air intake, plenty of options for exhaust systems, some sticky rear tires in 315/30 and your import will end up quicker than your domestic

If you’re just looking for a decent power increase I’d reccomend bootmod3 and an “off the shelf map”. I hired someone who was well experienced in coding and he sent me a list of options and I picked what I wanted and he came to my house and did it all in an hour or so. To me these cars don’t sound too good no matter what you do. I’m full straight piped with down pipes and really only enjoy the turbo noise. I wish it sounded half as exotic as your viper. As SoCal mentioned, tires are everything. I’m only on a stage one tune and I’ll spin a sticky Sport Cup 2 tire over 60mph. As soon as these are wore I’m grabbing drag radials. Performance wise this car can be 500-800whp (or real close to it) with just a tune. It depends on how risky you want to be on the block and transmission.

Thanks for the suggestions. I never coded my '13 650, but I hear there are tons of little features to unlock/utilize.
I'm glad a 315/30 will fit the stock rear wheels...as I'll probably do a R888r or Mickey Thompson Drag radial.
I'm guessing simple tuning and some bolt ons can yield an additional 100rwhp?

People are pushing over 700whp on stock turbos with bolt-ons and some E85, meth injection, etc. The 650-680whp/wtq range is about the most the stock clutch packs can take and even then you'll be wearing them down faster than you would be if the car was stock. With a tune and downpipes people are pushing 650-680whp+, that gives you an idea of how easy it is to pull power out of these underrated S63TU engines.

Hi and welcome, I can’t suggest any ‘mods’ but I do like the car in Alpine White

Go drag radial if you can. I drive in the rain so couldn’t make the switch. The coding stuff is all personal preference. It was cool when I first got it but I barely notice it now. I can’t remeber everything but I have warning chimes removed, colder ac seats, auto folding mirrors with fob, windows up/down with key fob, turned on climate control memory (stays on last setting before vehicle was shut off), European MDM (allows for a lot more traction slip). A low level tune will net you 100rwph easy.

I recommend talking to Mike at BPM Sport in west LA for a tune. If you want 100+ rhp, be prepared to upgrade your clutches.

welcome, and that's an impressive garage!

The beauty of any M car is that it's a great street car all the time and a capable performance/track car some of the time. At most times when you drive, you want the car to feel like it's massaging your eye brows...not attacking them with scissors.

IMO, if you don't want to "go crazy", I wouldn't do a tune at all on the M6. Any stage 2 tune will spin the wheels even in 4th gear. Stage 2 tunes are typically in the 700 HP range, which because an issue related to street-ability IMO. A stage 1 tune will get you in the acceleration times of your Viper. But then again, you already have a Viper for the crazy times....so....

Just add an exhaust, some cosmetics and call it a day!

Thanks again.
Looks like a couple of local BMW techs offer the coding and I'll look into a basic tune and exhaust.
Perhaps a CF front fascia add-on and CF tips to match the rear CF spoiler. And I'd love to fit a set of 315's in the rear.

The Viper is full bolt on heads/cam/exhaust/tune...making over 700rwhp NA on 91. I'm done with the deep 1,xxx rwhp game.

How do you like the viper overall? Was considering one for my next car.

The last Generation 5 is by far the best of the previous 4. There have been some motor bearing issues, buy Dodge has stood behind them as they should.
