What's up guys- I was hoping to get feedback from those of you who have driven both. My current M6 has the comp package (it is a 6spd manual) but I never drove one without it.
My dilemma is that I ran credit and build my 2016 M6 which is set to begin production next month- except that Competition pkg won't be available until July. So from those of you who have driven both- do you really notice a difference in city use? I'm not one who tracks any of my cars- but since I have no experience with one that doesn't have the pkg- I was looking for some feedback. So I'm torn keep the order in, wait or simply look for a 15 and move over into a DCT m6 since there aren't anymore MTs out there. Thanks guys!

When I went in to get my 14GC and was deciding which way to go the dealership was very open about saying the competition package really didn't deliver any noticeable differences. Again it is only 15hp. The appeal I imagine would be in the different suspension and blacked out exhaust ect. At the most I have read it knocks a 10th of a second off in times so doesn't seem like for what you describe it would be necessary.

15 hp is not noticeable. Black out tips are nice. Exhaust sound is a bit louder, but the major difference is suspension which is 10 mm lower (that lowers the center of gravity causes better handling at corners) and more accurate/responsive steering wheel; however as I said in other threads, it's not a deal breaker for a 130k car to miss CP. But again this is just "my opinion" ...

Only just got the car last week but I can say the power is awesome. Cannot state if better with it without; only that if I can get an option that is performance oriented, I will tic that box every time

Worth the price alone for the steering feel , 20% quicker ratio rack with the stiffer dampers springs and swaybars . It pulls harder to redline than the standard car too , you don't notice a difference unless you are over 6500 rpm .

I appreciate the feedback guys. I think I am going to just go through with the order now. I never truly push the engine of my current m6 (sure on long empty roads I'll gun it) but I don't race others not do I have the time to take it to a track unfortunately.
Reading the feedback- it almost comes down to when using the vehicle for really PUSHING the vehicle that there's a difference as oppose to common city use. I'll post pics as soon as she gets here in may! (Now the waiting period )

Not sure I'd want the M6 to be any lower than it already is. I feel like even the elderly people driving behind me get impatient when I have to slow to a crawl to clear the dips in the road we have out in santa monica

"PUSHING" this vehicle on the street = lol I am ordering mine with the M Performance exhaust and looking into a Dinan tune (to include air intake and DPs) so hopefully that will take care of the non-CP power issue and exhaust So May delivery? UGHHH!! The wait is going to suck!! |

Coming from the LCI M5 NONE CP to the M6 GC CP the m6 packs much more than 15BHP, I can say it out handles out performs and corners way better than the M5 NONe CP. your choice, and it's "NOT 10 mm lower"
It's the same hight as STD M6's, I know as i negotiate speed humps dayly in both cars, no difference in ride height at all.

Hmmmmm I found a 14 up for a lease takeover (coupe) manual with comp package. Now it'd be compromising the interior (it's black and I currently have white opal) which may not be a bad thing- and its space gray ext. simple wrap could fix that.
Update in a few days

John, as far as comparing the M5 non CP with M6 CP, I think it's not a fair comparison. M6 non CP by itself has better handling than M5 non CP because the height (almost 3" shorter) and CF (lighter) that lower the center of gravity. On the other hand M6 CP has better handling than M6 non CP. I mean for sure your M6 CP has better than your M5, but the majority of this advantage is the difference between M5 and M6 and not just CP. OP maybe this link help you to get all technical data you want about Competition Package: http://f10.m5post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=873975

The steering difference alone makes the CP worth it!

Steering and suspension differences mean CP is well worth it. 15 HP is nice, but the handling is very very good!
