Thoughts about a transition?

What's up guys, I currently have a 2016 BMW M6 GC (which I love) and was thinking of possibly trading it in for a new BMW M8 GC Competition just to have something new and fresh. The car will be driven on weekends or for fun. I have about 20K left on my current GC before its fully paid off. I wanted to get peoples thoughts/opinions to see if its worth paying off my current GC and keeping it, or would leasing a new M8 GC be a better route to take considering depreciation etc. Any feedback is appreciated!

I would pay off the M6, save that car payment money and continue enjoying this modern day classic. Which is what I plan to do with mine. The M8GC to me doesn’t look nearly as good as the M6GC does, IMHO. I actually prefer the M8 coupe. I think these M6’s have a timeless sort of look and will go down as a classic. Next step for me will be stepping up to Porsche w/ a 911 Turbo (which I think most of us ultimately want to do) in a few years but will still keep the M6GC.

Im obviously biased since I’ve owned two f06 models…and looks are totally subjective. But i would ponder if letting go of any of the f chassis 6 series models…especially the M6 version is like the previous owners of the BMW 507, or BMW Z8.

How will you feel later when you look back…will you have regrets not squeezing every ounce of enjoyment before moving on?

Owning a BMW model that stands out from the heard is a great enjoyment. There are very few people who think the looks of the f06/f12/f13 is negative…exterior & interior. Even with its quirks…it’s still an awesome vehicle.

Could you be getting rid of the next one of these just to have something newer…but doesn’t necessarily stir the same emotions?

Currently have both M6 and M8. Depreciation on the M8 will not be your friend over the next few years no matter how well you purchase it. If depreciation/cashflow is the main consideration, Drive the M6 and enjoy it. Most people think the M8 is the new iteration of the M6, but driving both back-to-back daily, they are totally different animals mainly due to the AWD in the M8.

2016 BMW M6 GC  [10.00]
I have a 2016 M6 GC with a manual transmission. I was at the dealer recently and I admit the M8 looks impressive, but it does not look as good as my M6. The M8 looks fat and heavy by comparison, and it also has too many cuts and details compared to the clean lines of the 2016 M6. Mine has like 71,000 miles on it in the past 9 or so years, but I'll be driving it less starting now (I moved and got a third vehicle). I'm going to keep it for a while yet.

M6 > M8! Especially in the Gran Coupe configuration.
