Finally some weight numbers

640i - Unladen weight EU: 1735 kg
650i - Unladen weight EU: 1845 kg (previous generation 650i: 1725 kg = 120 kg difference)

Compare to 550i - 1905 kg

Starting?

lmao

Look back at previous bimmers, they've always all looked alike...

e46 (3er), e39(5er), e38(7er)

The 7er usually starts a new generation of design, followed by the 5er, then the 3er, these new models fall in all over the place in-between. History is just repeating itself...

Doesn't bother me, adds "exclusivity" IMO as opposed to other major manufacturers in which all of their designs are all over the place...

with the electric steering this car will feel as a bloody boat to drive. thats why in the brochure they only talk about the jags light clusters and the porsche design...they dont even dare to mention weight.
lol

going more lighter is a lie!

new platforms are only getting heavier because of regulations...downsizing engines and slapping on turbos to compensate...

Why don't you call BMW and tell them where they're going wrong - I'm sure they'll get right onto it .

My appointment to choose colors and options is Monday am. Estimated build date is late July, so here probably September...

Lots of lasting decisions to make...

Let's see,

Deep Sea Blue metallic
Full Cinnamon brown interior, with contrasting stitching
Oak trim
Driver assistance package [includes new Heads Up Display]
Luxury seating package
8 speed automatic
M sports package with 20 inch wheel upgrade; [M steering wheel, Aero kit, anthracite headliner, LED fog lights, increased top speed limiter, and tuned exhaust]
Ceramic controls
All LED lights
Bang and Olufsen Sound system
Heated seats

Things got pretty vague around delivery date, but I'll be among some of the first to receive a new coupe...I am looking forward to it.

Great! I thought a long time about the blue, but I only liked it with the ivory and there was no way I was going to do ivory with my kids. I got the leather dash with the stitching too. They had it in ivory and black at the Detroit show and it really added a finished quality to the interior.

6 Series Coupe

I think this is one of the sexiest cars BMW has put out in a while. Although the overall length is a bit longer than I would have liked, it's still a beautiful beast!

Sequal,

Re: The articulated roof hardtop

What I have heard is reflected in the weight numbers that follow your post. The prototypes were significantly heavier than the convertible. Couldn't be engineered to come in at a reasonable curb weight.

^^^Now they have you by the b..ls, GreyCoupe,,,,,,they keep giving you the production number to make sure you don´t back out,,,,later on , they´ll give you a "projected delivery date"(their ass is always covered!!)
Don´t worry,,,,eventually you´ll get the "Coupe". Good luck with it,,,happy motoring!!

Yup, they do. So you are right, I am sort of on the hook. They can leave me dangling as long as they choose, and my early order will not likely have impact on the US release date!

Not sure which is the right thread but anyway... I wanted to have a clear idea of what the next 6GT might look so I took the only official profile pic of the GranCoupé Concept and cleared it out... The silhouette is really disappointing and the rear doors are clumsily integrated. It doesn't at all have the grace of an A7 or a CLS.

But if we straighten and extend the roofline further towards the rear (CS Concept style), the car looks longer, sleeker and suddenly gets that 4 door coupe look Hopefully the real deal will look like this
