BBS FI or HRE P101 on 2014 M6 Gran Coupe

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Has any one had any experience in installation of wither of these wheels on the M6 Gran Coupe. I understand the BBS needs 15mm spacers on the rear. Is that okay to do?

I have the S101s and Hunter has the P101s would never use wheels that need adapters. Stick with HRE or Morr or Vorsteiner as they are vehicle specific made to order. BBS makes great wheels but not in the same class at all

That's right, because BBS is a class above. The FIs are amazing, simple as that. There's a reason people are willing to pay 2k per wheel - the rigidity, appearance, and weight are unrivaled.

Listen believe what you want but the HREs are $2400 without special finishes so lets keep this real. Any wheel that is not specifically made for a vehicle, that uses spacers or adapters will never perform like an OE wheel. It will shake or vibrate, throw off the handling, and in the end you will not be happy. Buy what you want but be warned. If you choose the new BBS FI line keep us posted.

Really! Don't get me wrong I love HRE's but BBS is the best wheel manufacture in the world. The reason he is being told that the FI's require a spacer is because the offsets were designed for the F10 M5.

BBS has their own foundry in house.....

For the use that we as end users on the street will subject our cars to, either wheel is great via construction and fit and finish. I like HRE because I can get a perfect fitment with no spacer and their facility is local so Ive been able to witness how my wheels were made and then finished.

I think it boils more down to subjective wants with looks here (HRE vs the FI). I have owned 3 sets of BBS LM wheels and 1 CH set; they are incredible. I am on my 17th set of HRE's and would not look back. Both are winners

Nate I made a post but this dumb app keeps giving errors. Anyways no knock on BBS and I love their wheels but unless they offer the total customization of a boutique wheel builder then they will fail. My Alpina OE wheels are BBS.

Yes but these are vehicle specific. They need to make the FI program like the boutique manufacturers where they are one offs vehicle specific to meet or exceed OEM fitment. And offer finishing choices. If they did then I would easily consider them

I'm in the market for light wheels for M6 GC. I have heard that you can fit the rear BBS FI wheels on the m5 F10 without spacer but it requires grinding the brakes caliper little bit.

What is the lightest for the price ? in 911 forums the forgestar and OZ being very famous

If i go with p101 20", will it be noticeably lighter than factory ?

That was for the 19" BBS FI with E9x M3 fitments that required modification to fit on the F10 M5. The 20" BBS FI was designed for the F10 M5 and does not require any modifications.

The BBS FI (20) is the lightest wheel for the F10 M5 at the moment.
