It is not the norm "today" (April 7th, 2015).

You got your car five (5) months after the new model year was available. So they had 2015s available and your car had been around 8-9 months. The 2016s will just start arriving this month and the 20K discounts will start to appear this summer. Right now, I'm thinking cost is more like what you will see, unless of course you are buying a 2014.

PS - if it was the "norm" then dealers simply would not buy M6s - especially if they were going to lose that much money on the car. It is quite possible your car was flipped to a demo when the $7,500 cash was avail and they had that to play with. Who knows - you got a great deal and that's all that matters!

LOL... did you read my quote? I said it's "norm" unless you are looking for a car has arrived week/month ago. Of course you cannot get that much discount on that type of situation. and that's why I said I admit most of your point... anyways, if you decide to get an M6 with 20k off let me know

20k off an on-the-lot M6 should be no problem at all. A salesman at one of the dealerships once told me that owning a dealership is essentially a license to print money, so I wouldn't worry about feeling guilty for haggling. Most of the successful car salesman I know care more about volume than squeezing every last dollar out of a sale anyway, so just find one of them (typically internet sales).

To date I have still never order a custom BMW so I have no idea what kind of discounts they offer on a custom M6. I've seen deals on 650's and 750's though that were very similar to off the lot sales.

I will say that I bought my brand new '15 M6 GC w/comp pack for $20k off a $138k sticker back during Labor Day weekend last year. It's the only one they had on the lot. Now, I will state the following:
1. I bought my wife's brand new X5M from this dealership about a year before this purchase
2. My brother bought his new '14 M5 from this dealership within days of me buying my car (at $17k under sticker
3. I ended up negotiating directly with the COO of this dealership
