Question on lighting option

So what exactly does the lighting package get me? It's about $3000 extra in Canada and don't know if its worth it or not.

I'm in a 535xi right now and have been toying with the idea of maybe getting into an m5 or a 650gc since we don't have 640 here as an option.
I'm thinking that financing a more expensive car would be beneficial to me in terms of business expense (depreciation) rather than my just my lease payments.

Not really sure about Canada, but in the U.S depreciation almost always ends up being the better option if you keep the car for at least 5 years. If you are looking to get rid of it before that, then expensing the payments is usually better/easier.

Yeah, I've always just held cars for 4 years max, so leasing was always more attractive. Was just advised recently that claiming depreciation would be more in total as compared to just lease payments!

We're slightly getting off topic tho haha any thoughts on the LED lighting package?

The full led lights change the whole look of the car. You will regret not getting them. If you go through the forums you will see that option is almost always added to peoples builds.

It's an expensive option but might be one of the only options that is actually somewhat worth the cost. Search for some images of 6 series with them and compare those cars to ones without them.

Pony up and order the full LED pkg!! We ordered them as well!! You can see Southern22's blog where he has videos. They are truly a bright white, active, in that they move to the corners you are turning and Asthetically makes a tremendous difference in the overall appearance of your car.

+1. They're worth the money for the way they look. The added whiteness, safety, etc. is a little something extra.

From my experience, if you're tempted by an option, get it. I regret passing up the B&O every day, especially when I see someone else's with the system.

It's all personal preference, of course.

Get the LED package. It's an option that clearly makes the car stand out. I did not get the B&O first because I hear they don't make it and 2nd the difference in sound for me was negligible. But hey I didn't think the V8 was needed either. I think like a woman but don't hold that against me.

Went to my dealer today, the lighting package IS A MUST BUY!!

Anyone here feel underwhelmed with the comfort of the 6 GC? I was playing in a fully loaded one and was pretty disappointed with the seats compared to my f10 with Dakota leather! They felt flimsy and not as luxurious..

The 6GC is beautiful tho!!!!! I love the sound of the v8!!!!

That's right. Seats, even with the comfort seats, are not as comfortable as my old F10...... And the rear seats are stiffer than the F10 as well. But then, that's what a sport car should feel like. And the 6GC seats are way bettern than my E93 M3's

I'm picking my 650GC tomorrow morning without the LED pack!!! I couldn't find any comparison photos of LED vs standard lighting. Is it only in color and luminescence? Are there any added lights or accents as well?

I went with M-Sport, executive and seating package....and this is all after picking up a pretty well equipped 2012 535xi only 8 months ago...so I had to cut some corners!! lol

In Canada, the "Vision Package" costs $4200 for the Gran Coupe

- includes
Active LED headlight
LEd Fog light
High beam assistant
Night vision with Pedestrian detection

Is it worth it ? You have to decide. For me, it's No. I don't see $4000 worth of extras in the list. Most is around $2000

did not get the 650GC, got the M5 instead. My Sales Advisor suggested the 650 GC is way overpriced (esp. more so after the options I wanted which incl. the Msport, Exec & Vision), besides, I told him I tend to keep my car for about 1.5 - 2 yrs, therefore, he advised me of not over spend and keep my $ for the next new car (after the M5).

Yes, the LED headlamp package is one of the defining characteristics of the current 6er family. Upon first encounter, most would assume that they are just cosmetic. Besides the very evenly white light (talking football stadium quality here) that they cast, they are also adaptive (points to where you steer according to your speed). They also sport cornering lights that are discrete and very well-positioned to illuminate areas that are usually unnoticed. Look closer and you will see floating corona rings extended by perforated LED light tendrils. The intricate and precise light elements in the headlamp cluster lend a 3D look to the overall headlamp and provides a very well-defined look no matter whether they are in daylight driving mode, low beams, high beams, park or even turned off. It is like having multiple headlamp designs in one. Coupled with the generously-sized LED fog lamps (that do not look like Christmas lights), you get an unmistakable BMW design and yet unfamiliarly futuristic. These LED headlamp designs will inspire and lead the headlamp designs of future BMW models (and potentially others) to come. I consider owning a vehicle with these LED headlamps as "being there when it all began". So a big YES to the LED package if you have not already decided!
