Alcantara M6 Steering Wheel

Hi.
Has anyone converted their steering wheel in their M6 (2013 or 2014) to the Alcantara wheel in carbon, either with shift lights or blue stripe? Seems cool (have it on my GT3) but parts dept is telling me I need a new airbag, paddles, multifunction buttons, etc...this doesn't sound right, but could be, I guess. Let me know if anyone has any experience with this. My car is a 4-2013 production, 2014 model year.
Attached are some pictures of the models I am interested in. I am located in California, if that makes a difference (US car).
thanks in advance for any assistance on this,
Jeff

Thanks - what parts did you need to get? They are telling me airbag, paddles and buttons as well...my existing OEM won't work?
Thanks

Karim - Are you saying the LEDs/Screen steering wheel is not worth getting?

I've been looking at the two wheels for a while and my gut tells me to go with the blue stripe one. I am not too sure how I would like the plastic piece in the steering wheel and now with you saying it's not worth it that kinda pushes me further on my gut feeling.

Can you elaborate a bit on why you say it's not worth it?

Brian

I say the screen is useless, u can see stuff like ur oil temp. (which you can also see on ur gauge right beside the speedometer), and a few other stuff, unless you track a lot, it's not worth it.

You get just the steering wheel and the carbon fiber trim piece.

I'm actually in a process of selling my car by the way

Thanks - do you need to purchase any other parts, aside from the steering wheel and carbon fiber piece? My dealer is telling me conflicting things - I may need to purchase another airbag, buttons and set of paddles? Sounds odd...
thx

If you go on www.realoem.com
You should be able to look up your specific vehicle by month and year and it will show all available parts with everything that needs to be added

Just got mine today with the screen. Have any of you guys installed this yourself? Does the wheel need to be programmed?
Install guide maybe? Thanks for any heads up.

Looks great - did you re-use all parts? My dealer seems a bit shaky on the details...mine is a 4-2013 build (2014) and they say I may need new paddles, buttons and airbag? Seems nuts to me...let me know if you had to replace any of those? Thx

I used all the stock parts. No need to change anything like the digital display wheel requires.

Hi Karim, I see you have all 5 buttons below the headlight switch, can you tell me from left to right what exact each button's function is, please? Thank you!

Those are part of the driver assistance package, includes Lane departure warning, active blind spot detection, speed limit detection, etc.
