Has anybody M6 on here been affected by the recall?
Check out the post on the M5 board. It's supposed to affect some 6's as well

i don't have my M6 Coupe yet (in production though), called my dealer - he confirmed the recall is REAL and said, thankfully for me, my VIN number was not on the list of cars with the issue.

I checked the list am I made it by 3 vehicles. So i would say that cars that had a build week of this week or later are safe. I'm due to pick up next week, prob 1st week of oct now.

Yep. My car is sitting at the dealers (yet to take delivery) and cannot be delivered to me until the issue is resolved. This is a UK car which only completed build 1st week of September. Talk about frustrating. Don't even have a time frame for when the issue can be resolved. At least they are giving me an M5 loaner until the M6 can be fixed and delivered to me!

I think BMW is just playing it safe on time frame. If they say 2 weeks and it's longer people will howl, if they say 4-5 weeks like some believe people will howl. So most say 3 weeks or they just don't know. As long as folks are getting good loaners for the trouble it should be fine.

Did you check your VIN to the list? If its lower than C968675 then unfortunately you may have a slight delay. But I have been reading that some dealers are saying the parts will be coming in this week possibly.

Sadly I'm affected but my cars still on the boat. How does this affect break in as the oil put in the factory is different from the regular oil change oil?????

I'm not sure, i haven't done much research on the oil thing. i have been hearing it's different oil but i haven't looked up why? Like just different weight or not all the protective additives knowing it will be replaced shortly due to deposits from the engine breaking in. I have read the manual but really didn't look much into it. I think your car should be good since it's not actively being used.

Are you sure it's still different oil? Read somewhere the break-in mineral oil is a myth. Even if it is, why would it matter? Change the pump, add break-in oil again (if it's different) and be done with it. It's not like the only place you can get the oil is in the factory.

M6 Sakhir Orange Convertible EU delivery on Sept 17 returned Sept 21, drove it 1030 miles and its on the boat. My chassis number is on the list so when it arrives, will need the break in service and the oil pump replacement. While in Germany, drove on the Autobahn, slowly (under 100) on the ring and didn't have any issues. Thank goodness. I did noticed that BMW FS picked up the first payment. Not sure if this an error or covering the inconvenience. My on line statement shows "Payment will be made by BMW FS". Trying to get more details. If it holds true, at least BMW is trying real hard.

Drove it for 10 days, went on vacation for 2 weeks, came back and had to immediately take it to the dealership. Dropped it off on Saturday!

Atleast you got to enjoy it a little bit so far. I'm still waiting to get the green light to pick mine up. Did they give you something good?
