640M, presume you are using k/gal US or UK? You are also diesel as well, correct?

'13 650ix GC, 21 city, 24 hwy, mix of modes

You other guys getting low to mid teens, are you traveling roads that have a lotta start/stops or pushing your cars really hard to get such bad gas mileage?

No not really, half highway half street and mostly in regular mode. Your mpg is actually closer to 6 cylinder mileage to me. What's the secret I'm missing?

Not sure. No real secrets I can think of. I use the highest octane gas I can find which is usually Sunoco 93. I do use a mix of modes based on the streets/highways, but lean towards Eco when cruising locals roads as I don't need a lot of power on winding roads that are 30-45 mph.

Average 42mpg per tank (600-620miles) on mainly motorway driving.

Fantastic return of economy in a car that can do 155mph!

A combination of hard driving and in the city, but definitely mutually exclusive.

I left my average mpg trip untouched for several thousand miles and if it is to be believed then on average I get 38mpg. That's a UK gallon and there are 1.2 US gallons in a UK gallon. A mix of town and motorway driving and I never bother flicking to ecopro. It is diesel of course and I would say 95% of the current 6 series cars over here in the UK are diesel.

BMW claim an average 54mpg for the 640d which I can't even achieve even using the lightest of touch. How they achieve this figure will be based on the same sort of test software nonsense that has landed VW in the doodaa. It's about time the test and inspection processes caught onto this. But hey, 38mpg is good enough for me

My 640d is getting nigh on 40mpg (UK) and has done ~8200 miles now. Mixed driving, but guessing 70% of miles probably long journeys of an hour of fast A roads prior to motorway. I've not used eco pro at all for any length of time as I can't see the point :-)

Previous car was 320d and it did 50mpg over nearly 40k, so very happy with the 640d :-)

640d in Sport Mode around town mainly in 30 mph zones: 31 mpg (UK)
In Sport Mode combined motorway and town driving: 36 mpg (UK)
I think it is an excellent tradeoff between speed and economy.

I know the car is capable of more in EcoPro mode but I don't like how the car drives at all

Reading this I'm sure my 640d must have a egr issue or something like that.
I drove 220 miles very light footed max 70mph in comfort mode and the highest it went was 41mpg.
The last 3k miles has averaged 33mpg and that is slow driving and mixed.
