I am also curious how many slots there were total. I think the press release said 300 cars were allocated to the U.S. per year. Did they really already sell 298 slots? |

2) 300 total US was my understanding, too. When Brett said that there were two "unsold" production slots left, that certainly implied that 298 were sold. However, I suspect that is not true given Greg's order for dealer stock. I asked Brett whether his number was for the current batch or for the year's allocation, but he didn't respond. Seems a bit difficult to believe that 298 were sold so soon. I'll keep everyone informed as I find out more. |

Called the tracking number today, it now says being transferred to port instead of awaiting for carrier like it has been for the past month. I guess it's finally on its way to alpina now.
It doesn't look like I will be driving the car in Europe at all. Instead we are doing a family trip with some other friends to Italy. I will just fly from there to Munich for a day and go back to Italy. On the bright side, it should get to the states faster. Hopefully it will get on a boat before I leave Italy. |

Just picked up my 2016 B6 for E.D. a couple days ago. For those interested in the exhaust note, here's a short clip of the startup and also some pictures.

FWIW, I was told by a dealer that there are only two modifiable production slots left for the production year. Presumably that means only two 111/112 status code cars are left. The remaining cars are status code 150 or above, and not all produced cars are customer sold. Indeed, B6's are definitely showing up at SoCal dealers (e.g., Crevier, Irvine, McKenna). Check out this frozen white B6 at Irvine BMW (incorrectly listed as a 650i - Djsaad1 told me about that one).
Pure speculation on my part, but given the difficulty that I have had trying to snag one of those production slots, I am wondering if BMW is saving them for VIP's like entertainment/sports celebrities or prominent political figures. |

So far, I found 15 B6's on the west coast. All are in California, and 13 of them are in SoCal. Just for the heck of it, I did a nationwide search centered around the larger cities. Nowhere else comes close to the level of B6 concentration in SoCal.
As I posted elsewhere, my wife and I agreed to buy one that is currently on a boat cruising up the west side of Mexico. August 4 arrival in Port Hueneme. |

I did notice another frozen white one in Beaumont, TX. The one at Irvine BMW appears to be gone already. |

Would you be missing out on much if you went with the Alpina, as far as the Dynamic Digital Instrument Cluster? If you went with the 2016 650 or maybe the M6 as well (assuming the M gets the DDIC), they now have the digital gauges while the B6 goes with the the blue Alpina cluster. Is there a big difference besides the changing color for sport mode and digital dials?

I had the digital cluster on my 650 and didn't care for it. All it did was switch colors, there wasn't any added function with it like you get with other digital clusters on other cars.
You actually lose functionality in the hud by having it, for example you can't have turn signals or lane lines be shown in the hud if you have the digital cluster. But if you want, you can retrofit it, I think it's about $1200-1500. |

Finally...
A pleasant surprise is that mineral white really pops in the sunlight. An unpleasant surprise is that, even in sport mode, cornering feels disconcertingly numb compared to my M6 in comfort mode. Still love the car overall, though. |
