640D Window sill

Hi,

I have a 2014 640D GC, and have found that the Window Sill (?) has began to lose its shape. It's like whatever material under the leather has broken from my placing my arm on the window. The car only has 24k miles and I find this is not reall acceptable for a car of this caliber.

Would you agree with me or do you think this is acceptable wear and tear ? Is anyone elses the same ?

Do you think this is something BMW would fix under warranty ?

If br tsking thst to main dealer they will remove the leather and re-trim. I had my drivers side seat come away from the plastic sides and they rebuild it under warrenty

I would certainly be sending that back for warranty work. That certainly isn't acceptable plus I haven't seen one like that

Thanks lads, I'll bring it to a main dealer so and get their opinion. I just wanted to check that I wasn't being to fussy before I did that !

My car is less than a month old and I have stopped resting my elbow on the same part of the door as it was permanently causing a noticeable crease.

Yeah, not looking good. I dropped into a main dealer today and was told it would most likely be deemed wear and tear!

A bit disappointing considering the cost of these cars.

No chance id execpt that. U need to go above that joey or go elsewhere.

My seat had come away from the side trim, which by all accounts was caused by someone on the larger side sliding into the car, surely thats wear and tear..? My seat got rebuilt

Mines a few years old and I rest my arm there everyday and it looks perfect still, I understand what there saying with wear and tear, as these cars get older cosmetic wear does take hold but that seems very premature indeed, I would certainly expect it to be fixed under a AUC warranty or if it's under 3 years old as yours is

Its less than 2 years old ! with only 24k miles on it !

The guy just had a quick look and kinda passed it off as nothing, "doubt that'd be covered, it'd just be deemed wear and tear I'd say"

I'll be booking it in and insisting it's fixed.

Yeah that's not right if it's still in manufacturers warranty, yours is newer than mine and mine still look factory fresh, unless your hulk hogan with arms that weigh the same as a tree that's way to premature wear for a premium car like this, hope you get it sorted asap

I've had bubbled alloys, premature wear on a drivers seat bolster, premature wear on a passenger door handle, foggy headlights etc all replaced under the 3 year manufactures warranty over the years on different cars and they are wear and tear

Kick up a bit of a fuss and you'll get it replaced no problems

Keep us up dated as mine appears to be exactly the same and with a very similar amount of miles on the clock
