First issue dice ownership started, seat noise.

Dropped the car off today for its first "issue" since ownership. After 7k miles, the vehicle is showing a small problem with the driver's seat since I purchased it about 7 months ago. The seat seems to be producing a squeaking sound inside the adjustable backrest (multi-function seats) in the driver's side seat. It seems it's from one of the mechanisms inside the seat around the area where my left shoulder rests. It's become a bit of a nuisance, specially on long journeys, as every time I go over a small bump it squeaks like a cheap old spring mattress. To me it seems like something needs to be greased inside the seat. I am a bit worried about the dealership having to open up the seat as the merino leather has been known to be quite delicate and for easily wrinkling and/or scratching. However I have been reassured by my service advisor that it shouldn't be a problem. I hope he is right. I'll update this thread as the repair progresses in case anyone else has a similar issue.

Will do guys. Now, if I could only correct the typo in the title of this thread. Seems my phone's autocorrect function assumed I was talking about gambling rather than my car.

I had the same problem and my local dealer got a driver seat lower assembly part sent over from Germany, under warranty. It doesn't squeak as much now, but it's still there, reduced by 90% based on gut feel. It should have been a 100% fixed IMHO. It's cooler weather here now so that may reduce the noise and wonder if it'll come back when it's warmer.

The noise I'm getting is not really a squeak.. more like an abrupt creak or tick??!! I can't even describe it properly...

I still haven't heard back from the dealership. I'm hoping when I do that they will have a permanent solution that will 100% eliminate the problem. 90% will not do. I purchased the car cause it was a fast, powerful, comfortable, and luxurious GT. Some of the luxury and comfort is being hampered by the annoyance of that noise, specially since it's occurring just inches away from my ears, so I'm hoping they can solve this entirely.

Just got a call from my service advisor. He claims the issue has been resolved. Apparently the springs inside the backrest were rubbing together, causing the noise. The backrest was taken apart ,the springs were rearranged, and then the backrest was put back together. I am anxious to see if this really solved the problem and if my leather seats were left unharmed. I will update once I pick up the car in an hour.

Just got the car back about an hour ago. On the drive home the seat seemed fine, the noise is completely gone. I also didn't see any damage to the leather. I did notice that the area where the noise seemed to come from now feels more "cushioney" than before, but that may be all in my head. I'll update this if anything else crops up, but for now, the problem seems to have been solved.

That's great news!

Would you mind taking a photo of the area where the noise from your seat was coming from?

This was the problem area. Any pressure here would result in a loud squeaky noise. Seems fine now.

It's funny! looks like this is a common issue in 6er... my previous 6 ers had the same issue at the same area.
Anyways, glad to see it's fixed now. Enjoy your beast
