6 series M Sport Steering Wheel
Hi guys,
Wondering if you can help, we are looking at a nearly new 6 series. I notice the latest models seem to have a new more sporting steering wheel, like in the link below: http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-RzP72aNFAB...6+Coupe+IP.jpg What is the story with this, was there a model update or did they just change the steering wheel design? |

We are looking to buy nearly new, so want to ensure there have not been any other changes. |

Thanks but what I mean is that the design of the M Sport steering wheel has changed recently and I was wondering if this is part of a wider set of model changes. |

Well in 2014 M sport edition became available which for only like 1100 more than M sport package also includes exec package and lighting package. I would be looking for a M Sport Edition version. No other changes other than upgraded NAV software

The steering wheel and dash were part of this change
http://blog.caranddriver.com/dial-m-...arts-at-80625/ Officially with July production, but rumor has it some late June builds had the new dash but not the new steering wheel (or it was the other way around). Either way, as of July that is the steering wheel. Of note, my friend has this steering wheel in his 550 and does not like the layout at all. Prefers the old one.

Have that steering wheel on my 640 ix vert built end December 13 (MY '14) M Sport Edition. Very happy with it. Ver comfy. Takes a little getting used to the additional thickness but very nice to hold. Only complaint: single digit temps and it takes a bit longer to warm up after the heater is turned on.

I Had a 2013 Gran Coupe with the older steering wheel. Now have M6 with new steering wheel. New one more sporty and like it better.

Yup, there are lots of market specific differences in packages and feature availability. Seems to me more an issue of what BMW thinks people will pay extra for than any genuine tailoring of features to different markets.
